Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2004 Ok here is the problem, it is obvious they were going for the "cool heel" who turns face route like Austin/Rock, however in all honesty, Orton wasn't even 1/4th as over playing a "cool heel" as Austin/Rock were upon their face turn. I strongley dissagree. Randy Orton was as over as they were, but Austin and Rock just got more attention, because at the time more people were turning into wrestling. Scroby 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2004 Something else about this. The Evolution beat down makes it seem more like Evolution is and has always been about protecting Triple H. I mean you'd think Flair and Batista would have a problem with that Triple H wanted them to do.......oh well.....I am thinking to logical again. Its the same thing that happen with the nWo. When the nWo had someone who was going for the title or had the title belt that person was kicked out by beat down by the members protecting Hogan, thus the forming of the wolfpac. Now lets just hope Orton doesn't form a face Evolution.
Highland 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2004 They might just do that. What Orton should do is go to Batista, and tell him that that beatdown Orton got was for winning the Title, that Evolution only exists to protect HHH at the expense of its members. He should plant doubts in Batista's mind by inferring that if Batista ever wins the belt, then he could be the one facing the "thumbs down"
EricMM 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2004 As soon as Orton got the title, either HHH had to bow out as leader and champ of Evolution, I mean come on, I was thinking just that during Raw, Flair has ALWAYS called HHH champ, but now Orton was champ. HHH has ALWAYS been leader of Evolution, always. Not because he's the best, or because he's right. Because he's HHH. An ego-maniac. I disagree with Orton's promo in the start, there were some good bits, but not enough. Too much standard heelish work. So the turn was a surprise, and it was a good one. But one night can't make as much of an impact as a good season. But it wasn't that big of a deal. NEXT WEEK is what will make or break this plotline. I don't know which matches I would book. I think a Orton+Benoit/HHH+Flair or HHH/Bautista would be somewhat too obvious. The way I would book this is that Orton is right now that 'tweener. Orton should be pissed at him for having Evolution ruin their rematch, Evolution will hate him, Edge hates him (whichever side he's on). Orton should stand against all of this, at least for now. Be the Samoa Joe-like champ, who just comes out and WINS. Have Benoit fight HHH for the number one contendership. In the meantime, Orton can fight Kane, Jericho, Edge, uh Rosey? These all don't have to be championship matches, just matches.
Promoter 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2004 It's true the follow up on raw will make or break this thing, but guess what? We got that supid wedding to deal with.
Angle-plex 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2004 I doubt Orton will show up next week. Evolution will give a promo about why they did that to him while Orton will be selling the injuries, so then the week after people will still tune in to see how Orton reacts. EDIT: I would keep Orton a tweener though, as I think tweeners are the most real and interesting characters.

I hope they don't do that. Orton should take the lead in this to come off strong. Instead of HHH coming out first, start the next Raw with Orton limping out with the belt and a baseball bat, and have him DEMAND HHH get his ass out there now to explain his actions, or he's going backstage to crack some skulls. If they let HHH take the lead in the feud, Orton will get overshadowed.

But I'm fairly certain WWE will screw the angle up within the next few weeks.
