Edge was injured over the weekend in a house show match with Chris Jericho in Salt Lake City, Utah. Edge took a bad bump outside the ring just a minute or two into the match, and yelled out that he was injured. The referee threw the "X" sign up and help arrived. Apparently the injury has to do with the hip or back, and Edge thinks it's a bad one. We'll have more on this later today.

WWE has decided to shift focus away from Eugene following his high profile Summerslam program with Triple H.

Eugene is not being blamed for low ratings or declining business, but WWE has opted to lower him and put the spotlight on Randy Orton as the company's top face.

Eugene was not mentioned on RAW following Summerslam and last week served only as the valet of sorts for William Regal. WWE does not have plans to bring Eugene back up to the level he was at leading to Summerslam, even though his feud with Triple H has yet to really be resolved.

Michael Hayes is getting a lot of heat backstage among the wrestlers for being a "stooge" and quickly telling Johnny Ace or Vince McMahon who has been showing up late to shows.

Rey Mysterio, for one, was reported as being late by Hayes to a recent house show and ended up being fined for it.

The description of the Unforgiven PPV event reads; "The big names in WWE gather to take part in events such as 'Tag Team of the Year' & 'Last Man Standing'.

CNBC is still airing commercials advertising WWE's SummerSlam PPV.

Bret Hart has updated his Calgary Sun column. This week's column is entitled "Saying goodbye to the Hart House." In case some of you haven't read by now, The Hart family house was sold not too long ago. In the column, Bret basically writes about the memories from the Hart house and more. To read Bret's column, head over to Slam! Wrestling.

WWE.com has added an advertisement for their new video game project titled WWE Day Of Reckoning. The game is due for release on August 30th.

Despite constant attacks from websites for not hyping The Rock's return in advance, WWE remains firm in its argument that featuring the occasional surprise return keeps the shock aura around WWE RAW, causing fans to wonder if any more surprise returns will occur.

WWE's feeling is that if it hypes everything in advance, fans will automatically know when no newsworthy segments will be a part of the RAW telecast, and not tune in.

More specifically in the case of The Rock, WWE also does not want to disappoint fans with his appearances. WWE has no interest in featuring him in major angles on RAW, yet if they pre-promoted his return, fans would expect something better than an encounter with the Diva contestants and/or La Resistance. Since fans go in not expecting to see The Rock, they cannot be disappointed with his involvement.

WWE fined seven wrestlers last week for violating their new dress code policy, including D-Von Dudley and Rey Mysterio. Everyone was fined $500 for the first offense. As reported, WWE will issue $1000 fines for second offenses, and a suspension for third offenses.

Many WWE wrestlers feel that the company has no right to fine for dress code violations since nothing related to dress is in anybody's contract.

Many feel WWE is going way beyond their legal rights in fining over dress code, since many of the wrestlers are considered to be independent contractors, a technical thing that WWE does to avoid paying many benefits and getting certain tax breaks.

Management feels it isn't too much to ask that the wrestlers look professional.

As we noted on the newsline yesterday, Edge was injured during his match with Chris Jericho in Salt Lake City on Saturday night. Edge took a nasty bump on the outside of the ring during the early part of the match and started screaming that he had been injured while performing the spot.

We've heard reports over the weekend that he took a nasty fall on his back or hip and immediately knew something was wrong when he landed.

The match was completely stopped and EMT's came to the ring to attend to him. Edge refused a stretcher and walked to the back with help from several of the agents.

Edge was in a tremendous amount of pain backstage and the last report we received (and this is just pre-examination), this was a pretty serious injury.

We hope to get an update later today.

We have just been told that tomorrow night at RAW from the Cow Palace in San Francisco, WWE will push forward obviously with the Kane-Lita-Matt Hardy storyline.

There are plans to do an angle on the show where supposed family members of Matt Hardy (NOT Jeff Hardy, don't even let the rumors begin) come to the ring in an attempt to try and gain some revenge on Kane.

Apparently, Matt Hardy will also now have a Samoan relative, and Southern California indie wrestler Shawn Riddick of UPW by his side.

This will all take place this week on RAW.

I feel a second classic OAORaw coming up. Zsasz, NY Untouchable...let's mobilize and welcome Malofa Hardy to the WWE ranks. Too bad the Samoan blood only gives you a hard skull, and not strong knee ligaments.
