He hasn't played football on any type of competitive level since high school. If he's really serious about being in the NFL he'll go to some "minor league" type football like Arena Football, NFL Europe etc. etc.

He'll probably make the practice squad, do some time in NFL Europe, then back up next year before starting down the road. I mean, who the fuck else are the Vikings going to play? We all know they only build on offense (sans this offseason, and not like it matters since 1. Their special teams are still highly questionable, and 2. Tice is a fucking terrible coach)

Footwork, understanding of where to be on a play, understanding the type of moves needed to break free of blockers, hand positioning, reading and recognition, and I could go on.
Guest Vitamin X Posted August 30, 2004 Report Posted August 30, 2004 I can see how you might think that for the defensive line, since it's mostly pursuit, aggression and what 2GOLD mentioned, but the offensive line is EXTREMELY complicated work. Some will go so far as to say that it's 60-70% mental. And also, extreme discipline. Lineman are of course most apt to offside penalties than any other position.

I seriously doubt that the NFL team was interested in signing Brock Lesnar nor do I believe that the wrestler actually thought that he had a chance at getting signed.

Yes, and for a player who hadn't played an inning since high school, he contributed pretty well to the Barons. I seriously doubt that the NFL team was interested in signing Brock Lesnar Mosts team were just scared off by his lack of experience. Both Tony Dungy and Mike Tice were amazed at his speed (4.6) and strength (26 reps at 225) in comparison to his size. Additionally, the Vikings encouraged him to keep practicing, because he has a chance at making the practice squad. And even if THAT falls through, Tice encouraged him to hone his craft in NFL Europe. nor do I believe that the wrestler actually thought that he had a chance at getting signed. But he IS serious and he DID think he had a decent chance. Do you realize the amount of guaranteed money he gave up leaving the WWE?

The Vikings only kept Brock Lesnar so that the team could sell more tickets to preseason games and to sell some merchandise. If Brock Lesnar goes to another league like the CFL or Arena Football League I will be surprised.

But without any football training, this is pretty much a publicity stunt, as Brock had little chance of even making the practice squad. This is no different than "celebrities" trying out for teams in the preseason such as the case of Master P playing summer league basketball or Garth Brooks I'm no fan of Garth but to be fair he does it for charity, not that he was actually trying out for the Mets, Padres, or Royals.
