Guest MikeSC Report post Posted September 7, 2004 See that gun? Under a bill he sponsored, that gun would very much be illegal. It has BOTH a "pistol grip" AND was given to him as a "gift". Illegal for thee, but not he. -=Mike

Guest MikeSC Report post Posted September 7, 2004 So, when was he given the gun? Right before he held it up at that campaign stop. He joked that he couldn't take it to the debates with Bush. -=Mike
Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted September 7, 2004 Uh, okay. Sorry, you and Drudge make it out like he voted for the bill with one of these hiding in his bedroom closet.
Guest MikeSC Report post Posted September 7, 2004 Uh, okay. Sorry, you and Drudge make it out like he voted for the bill with one of these hiding in his bedroom closet. Nah --- it's just a little funny that a gun he thought should be illegal he has no problem keeping himself. -=Mike

Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted September 7, 2004 On the bill Kerry supported: "the bill makes a specific provision for this kind of gun, since they are very popular among hunters, and the bill seeks to limit the sale of assault semi-automatic shotguns (that often have two pistol grips)." the bill: http://www.congress.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?...8:@@@L&summ2=m& "Modifies the exemptions from the Brady Act's prohibition against manufacturing, transferring, or possessing a semiautomatic assault weapon to exclude: (1) specified firearms, or replicas or duplicates, as manufactured on October 1, 1993; (2) any semiautomatic rifle that cannot accept a detachable magazine that holds more than five rounds; and (3) any semiautomatic shotgun that cannot hold more than five rounds in a fixed or detachable magazine." and here's a link to the gun: http://www.sirmailorder.ca/show_prod.php?p...d=43&PHPSESSID= but we all know that Kerry wants to ban all guns

Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted September 8, 2004 http://www.wonkette.com/archives/update-ke...nuts-020891.php "That's not a pistol grip; one can tell from the photos on his own site that that's a standard shotgun grip. This gun wouldn't have been made illegal by any law proposed by Kerry. Anyone familiar with guns can confirm that." I'm sure there's some gun experts here who can tell us the difference between pistol and shotgun grip. I'm working off of other sources since I'm nowhere near a gun expert and I suspect Mike is probably a bit biased against Kerry (just a hunch )

John Kerry, says that an "assault weapon" is any semi-automatic rifle or shotgun with a "pistol grip." According to the bill, "(42) PISTOL GRIP- The term 'pistol grip' means a grip, a thumbhole stock, or any other characteristic that can function as a grip." Kerry's new semi-automatic gun has a protrusion below the stock, which a person could grip. The protrusion is not a "pistol grip" in the ordinary meaning of the term, but it is a "pistol grip" as defined by S. 1431."
