Guest zzchopp Report post Posted September 10, 2004 Did anyone notice on Raw that the entrance way did not have a ramp, and the light rigging was not the usual high tech light rig they usually use? I thought it might be because of the cage suspended above the ring, but could the WWE be scaling down costs and using cheaper equipment? Then on Smackdown I watched for the same thing and the lighting rig they were using would have been at home at a 1985 NWA Pay Per View. Let me know what you think. Kaertos 0 Report post Posted September 10, 2004 In both of those cases, I think it had more to do with the arena set-up than with WWE scaling anything back. Smackdown this week was in a much smaller building than they normally use.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted September 10, 2004 They should change the sets to accomodate for the smaller venues, as well as scaling down costs. Yeah, that's it. It's not because they look ridiculous.
Guest thebigjig Report post Posted September 10, 2004 I was at the Kay Yeager Coliseum for RAW this past Monday, and trust me, the reason the set looked smaller is because this particular coliseum is the smallest I've ever been to. I was shocked at how small the titan tron looked in person... it wasn't nearly as big as I expected and I was thinking they used a smaller version because of the size of the building... also the ring looked smaller... it just didn't look like a 20 X 20 ring to me. Also, I believe there wasn't a spanish announcer table either. The whole building was cramped, and what's so sad is that even in the heart of hickville, WWE couldn't sell the building out (upper left seats were tarped off
Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted September 10, 2004 They typically have that lighting rig that looks like an octopus, with a big circle in the center and "arms" sticking out all over the place. When they have a cage suspended, they go to the old 90s look, a 5 or 6 sided circle around the perimiter with the cage in the middle..
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted September 10, 2004 Sooner or later they may resort to doing what the NWA did in the 80's just have a set and a ring in a studio with fans in bleachers

And Billy Joe Travis will still be protesting outside the studio.

Epic Reine 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2004 IWA:MS with its 12 fans looks pretty sad sometimes.
Guest AdamF Report post Posted September 11, 2004 They don't usually use a 20x20 ring for TV as a smaller ring makes the arena as well as the wrestlers look bigger.
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2004 I was pretty sure that 20x20 was the standard for WWF, whereas WCW and ECW were maybe 18x18. Remember, WCW guys couln't adapt to the ropes and bigger canvas. This ain't ballet.
