tommytomlin 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2004 I'd be willing to believe that if not three days ago Islam Fundamentalists blew up the Australian Embassy in Jakarta, killing 11 and injuring over 100. No surprise this hasn't registered in news over there, we're only your fucking 2nd strongest allies... Sorry, some of us over here in the States are sitting back and pondering how so many of you are eager to vote in as Prime Minister a man running on a "Fuck the U.S. and THEIR war on terrorism" platform. Latham and Labor support the War On Terrorism, they just don't support the War In Iraq. Afghanistan had Labor's complete support, as did the other facets of the war on terror. It was a Labor government that established the ANZUS treaty. It was a Labor Government that allowed U.S military bases on Australian soil despite huge public protest. It was a Labor Government that was willing to let the U.S test missiles near Tasmania. Saddam was taken down because he was a threat to the United States' interests. He posed no threat to Australia. Labor realised that, and knew Australian intervention in Iraq would divert intelligence and military resources that should have been focused on our own region. Australian political parties are responsible to the people of Australia, not the whims of the American President.
Dr. Tom 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2004 I'm just not feeling the security that the US would really come to our defence were we genuinely attacked. We would. Hell, we'd help the fucking FRENCH if they suffered a big attack.
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted September 11, 2004 For the record, Christians that have leaders capable of actually studying the bible correctly, and teaching it correctly, Christians who actually know and walk with the Lord do treat women with respect. Wife beaters aren't exactly following biblical teaching.
Guest Shoes Head Report post Posted September 11, 2004 This report is rubbish. There's been modernist islamic reform for the past three centuries, complete with hip talking, trimmed up beard wearing, cigarrette smoking sheikhs and all. Half the arab world doesn't even follow the religion's "sharia" anymore. Talk a walk through the streets of Pakistan and look at all the empty mosques at prayer time. The mosques in america don't even fucking OPEN their doors until fridays, and even then it's half empty. Hell, the 911 bombers went to a fucking strip joint on 9/10. Truth be told, the newest alqaeda bombing participants we'll see in the future probably will be alcohol swilling, non praying, gold chain wearing, 50 cent listening little cunts who just HAPPEN to be extremist arab nationalists at the same time. If we march into saudi today and imprison all the important "wahabi" clerics, guess what? The bombings will still fucking continue because they're regarded as "too rigid" anyway. Slickster 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2004 I'm just not feeling the security that the US would really come to our defence were we genuinely attacked. I think we'd help with troops/$. If AUS wanted to lead a war against the people who did it, though, I doubt we'd go along unless it was clearly in line with our interests. Of course, idk how much we helped the Spanish after the bombings.
Guest Nanks Report post Posted September 11, 2004 I'd be willing to believe that if not three days ago Islam Fundamentalists blew up the Australian Embassy in Jakarta, killing 11 and injuring over 100. Sorry, some of us over here in the States are sitting back and pondering how so many of you are eager to vote in as Prime Minister a man running on a "Fuck the U.S. and THEIR war on terrorism" platform. I wouldn't worry too much about that. Latham's campaign is looking more and more like Kerry's every day. He hasn't actually got any real policies outside of calling John Howard a liar. The other day he put forward a tax cut of $8 a week that would actually benefit about 10% of the population. But that's another story for another thread. This issue does genuinely concern me though. So far Australia's only ever been under threat of attack once, and it was brief, but we defended ourselves that time around, we didn't get much help from the rest of The Allies. It just seems that after the two most significant attacks on the US (Pearl Harbour and 9/11) we've leapt to arms but when dozens of Aussies were killed in Bali a couple of years ago and now when our Embassy is razed in Jakarta the US doesn't seem to even notice. It's a shade unsettling.
Guest TheAustralian Report post Posted September 11, 2004 Nanks, it said on tonights news that the USA has promised to send FBI agents and troops in the event of a terrorist attack. I have no doubt that the USA would help us if we were in need. Also might I add, experts have stated that J.I's hatred of us has more to do with East Timor then it does the War in Iraq. As for the ALP, Im with nanks. Latham has no chance.
