EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2004 Livan Hernandez: Rubber arm, genetic freak, or chronically overused pitcher? He's at 131 in Miami and still trucking along like nobody's business. I'd be curious if someone could give me his pitcher abuse number and just by how much he leads the league? (And if he doesn't lead the league, I'd be shocked.) Genetic Freak. He leads the league in Pitcher Abuse Points, closely ahead of Jason Schmidt, and far ahead of the rest of the pack. But he's never shown any signs of wear, and he's pitching much better over the last two seasons. Overuse has been suspected for years now, but there's no sign of worry whatsoever. Guest Anglesault Report post Posted September 17, 2004 I'm watching the Yanks/Sox 13 inning game on YES right now, and its got me pumped for tomorrow. I missed it again?

the max 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2004 Red Sox beat Tampa 11-4. Schilling goes 8⅔ innings, leaving to a standing O. The fans are really behind him, it's insane. I can't wait for this weekend now.

Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2004 Might as well halt play in the NL, the Padres have just made a major move that will secure them the Wild Card spot. That's right, Alex Gonzalez has been traded from the Spos to the Padres in a blockbuster deal that also involved CASH CONSIDERATIONS. Wow. In all seriousness, they basically have their back against the wall, after losing Greene for the season, so a move probably had to be made. At least Gonzo will feel better about moving back to a winning team.
strummer 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2004 Was that a Pat Borders sighting I just witnessed on BTN? And a Pat Borders getting an RBI hit? It's like 1992 all over again.
sfaJack 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2004 Gonzalez isn't eligible for the Pads' postseason roster if they make it, right? So what good does this move do? Might as well play the fill-in for the rest of the year since you'd have to rely on him in the playoffs anyway.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2004 The Padres were in a serious bind because both Sean Burroughs and Rich Aurilia are also injured. They needed a body just to keep fighting the wild card race.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2004 When did Burroughs get hurt? I just saw him playing last night.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2004 He slid too late into second base and jammed his leg on the bag.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2004 It's interesting to see the Giants are now just 3 behind the Dodgers. Don't hear a whole lot about that race, at least in comparison to Yankees/Sox. One thing about the Cubs and their chances I keep hearing is that "So and so will have to play the Cardinals, so don't worry." This is goofy though since the Cards have totally run away with the division and are coasting. Meanwhile they've run into some desperate teams vying for playoff spots (Padres, Dodgers, Astros) and those teams are beating them.

I can't wait for this weekend now. Niether can I, actually. I honestly believe that the Yankees have the pitching advantage for once. Lowe and Lieber is basically a push, Moose vs. Pedro might slightly favor the Sox, but Duque is much better than Arroyo.
mike546 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2004 True, but we usually have trouble with not so great pitchers.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2004 The thing about the Cards is lately, they've had some fairly costly injuries pile up. Everyone wondered what they'd be like if they experienced any key injuries. They'll be fine in the regular season, but it's interesting to see how they've played without Rolen. Backs up Henry Blanco for the Twins. Speaking of which. Fuck you Buehrle. Your White Sox are nothing but a bunch of heartless dogs, who fold whenever you face the Twins in any sort of important serious.

Sox will beat up on El Dookie tonight, they are chomping at the bit to face this guy. He won't get away with throwing 62 MPH garbage to the best offense in baseball. Then again...looking at the weather I doubt there will be games tonight and tomorrow. TRIPLEHEADER SUNDAY!

Guest Staravenger Report post Posted September 17, 2004 How old is Cartman? 10? Calling El Duque "El Dookie" is such a grade school joke it makes me not care about what he said after that. Is gangster-Arroyo going tonight?

"I'd like to that pitcher on the Yankees...what's is name again "El Duce".
