St. Gabe 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2004 I am still a fan too, just not of WWE anymore. I recently spent around $200 on old wrestling tapes from various places because I need my wrestling fix. As for the complaining, I rarely come into the WWE folder and complain, its just that I was venting my frustration on a night when I lost all faith in WWE recovering without major changes. right on, fair enough. Guest GreatOne Report post Posted September 14, 2004 Hmmm, let's see, RAW from the place where Taker did the Taker-roonie, Goldberg made his WWE debut, and the Sonics have stunk up the joint for the last two years: HHH-Orton bit--Predictable, not too stupid though, MADE by THE EURO-ORTON UPPERCUT OF DOOM!~, and HHH in the cake and his subsequent selling. JBL/Foley debate?--Foley did a good job taking apart the PTC and the IU study, unfortunately since his current party does him no favors (like giving him anything decent to work with) I see his part being reduced to 'Off the top of my head I can't think of anything good George W. Bush has done' jokes and 'Are you secretly a Mexican?' barbs from JBL. Benoit in both the first match and last 'even the score' segment? Cool. Michaels NOT in it and feuding with Christian? Even better. Tomko still sucks. Kane/Lita. Oh well you gotta end it somehow. Now if this we're say Dec. 6 and the alternative was the Hawks beating the crap out of the Cowboys, I'd go with my boys obviously but it was enough to give it equal time with Packers/Panthers (at least until MXC). Plus I'm going back to West Coast feed next week so this was my last HTH RAW for a while.
Guest Loss Report post Posted September 14, 2004 Anyways, just stop watching, in my opinion, alot of the people around here who have nothing good to say about the product should have stopped watching long ago. If you are a fan, watch. If not, either don't watch, or watch and don't complain. Oh and go ahead and call me a mark. Because thats what I am, I just happen to be smart. I know the business and I still ENJOY it!!! OMG!!LOL!1 So a "fan" is someone who blindly accepts everything thrown at him? And if, let's say, one enjoyed Benoit's run with the title but hates the Diva Search, he should stop watching because he's not a true fan? That's what you're saying. I couldn't imagine a more anti-intellectual point of view if I tried.
Guest Loss Report post Posted September 14, 2004 The most disgusting part of RAW for me was Trish Stratus triumphantly and heroically coming to the rescue of her friends who were in trouble, only to get attacked in return. How DARE they? She goes out of her way to give Lita wedding gifts and be in her wedding, she proudly represents the women's title (and is said to be the favorite wrestler of Gloria Steinem) and she has taken Tyson Tomko under her wing, training him so that one day he too can be the Greatest Women's Champion Who Ever Lived. It's a shame the crowd hates her anyway, even though she loves them unconditionally.

I guess people who point out the fact that some people seem to hate wrestling more than enjoy it, automatically think everything is great. Silly me, I'm just being an "anti-intellectual" I guess. Wrestling goes beyond WWE. And pointing out more bad stuff than good stuff doesn't make that person any less of a fan. More often than not, he's just more observant. Are some people too negative? Yes. Are people who criticize dumb ideas and bad wrestling too negative? No, and I'll argue anyone who says so. If anyone hated wrestling, they wouldn't bother discussing it. There are just lots of people who hate bad wrestling, and to paint them as non-fans because they don't eat up everything the company spits out with a spoon is more elitist than picking and choosing what one likes ever could be. If you've read through the thread though, you'd see there are even people who have said they hate good wrestling...so seriously, WTF? What does the WWE have to offer then. Good wrestling..bad wrestling..if you're complaining either way, then it's not the WWE, you just feel the need to bitch. And while I do agree..there's nothing really wrong with pointing out the negatives sometimes, but some just seem to ignore the good. And the WWE does do good at times. I mean the past few PPVs/shows, while not being the greatest...still at time offer good wrestling matches..but no one will ever mention that. Benoit could have the 'greatest match ever' on PPV...and let's say for these purposes it's curtain jerking..all you will see for a few weeks straight is 'OMG BENOIT, Curtain jerking again!' almost never, 'wow..that was one hell of a match'. I agree. People here care about workrate too much it seems. I'm not a mark but then again I'm not quite a smark. I guess that would make me a "casua-smark" or a "casual smark" or something... Just entertain me and I'm happy. I appreciate good matches when I see them but I don't care about workrate too much.

Guest GreatOne Report post Posted September 15, 2004 I've accepted that WWE is stuck in between eras right now, and ranges from average to decent to occasionally good or even WOW, and surprisingly I won't have an ulcer in six months time................... Would I rather see Benoit and Jericho headlining instead of HHH and Orton? Yes. That's just me though. As long as both are major players and not just floundering I'll take it. Another thing is you can't realistically expect HHH to just go away, this coming from a guy who as a young mark with absolutely no knowledge of backstage stuff whatsoever thought that Flair wrestling Luger for the *US* title while Sting was fucking around with the Black Scorpion was totally gay. For all the problems that WWE has, remember they could have gone the cheap way and headlined Mania with the supposed 'money match' with two guys that could give a shit about the business and made it title for title but went with two guys that do and another that mostly does (when he has his smile). AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2004 Why are ALL of the WWE.com photos from Raw featuring Triple H? I mean, wasn't there another 100 minutes or so of Raw worth taking pictures of? Well, actually, only 90 minutes out of a two hour show is actual Raw programming...you forgot about commercials. But there was about 70 non-HHH minutes.
