The Amazing Rando

My odd solution to the GTA Online Play Problem

Recommended Posts

So, with people scrambling to see if GTA will be able to pull out online play for such a giant world with tons of people running around, I thought of an idea that could make it a WHOLE lot easier.

Three words, people.

Hide. And. Seek.

Using the same engine, an online hide and seek game could be created where a Seeker would hunt around a large world of houses, parks, and whatever else looking for the hiders. That is the basic idea.

Other ideas:

- Instead of cars...bikes, skateboards, pogo sticks, unicycles, and other sorts of transportation would be available.

- Instead of guns...speed boosts, invisibility, and health would be available. As the character tires, the reactions are slower, the speed is lessened, and they come closer to actually passing out, leaving them open to be caught until enough time passes that they can get back on their feet.

- The game would be played in rounds, of course...similiar to Unreal or Quake, with an online database showing a points system for the hiders and seekers to see who is the best in the world. The Seeker is picked randomly through every round, and can't be the same person without going through everyone else in the game first. This gives people alot more time as hiders, but it works out with the points sytem.

The Points System

- Seekers are given points for how fast they can find everyone, and how many they find.

- Hiders gain points for how long they can stay hidden and how many people are caught before them.

Sure, it's a little childish, but I think it could be an answer to the idea of multi-person online play....only without the killing. I know that the killing is the best part and even I am wishing to one day rush around Liberty City, Vice City, or the San Andreas area and waste people... Hide and Seek could be the beginning of that.

Thoughts welcome, but keep the flaming down.

Heh, I like the idea. Its a simple concept, but it could become a very marketbale, very detailed game.

Sounds more interesting than GTA is to me anyway--however, you probably should at least have to take the seek-ee down, perhaps go hand-to-hand if they're quite stubborn.

my idea was a run and tackle scenario... like... when within range a green orb will appear around the player and you can attack, but the player can also power out if the strength difference between seeker and hider is big enough.

Okay, that's kinda what I had meant.

Plus they could expand it to a "capture the flag" style scenario of teams.

See, the reason I took away the cars was because of the added memory it would take to have cars parked everywhere for use. It makes it easier to slap around a few dinky skateboards or even do them in the glowing orbs so they are always there when you need them and have a specific regen time.

Another possible game right there. I think they could throw a bunch of different childhood games into it.

- Hide And Seek (w/ or w/o teams)

- Capture the Flag

- Flashlight Tag

Capture the Flag is in pretty much every multiplayer FPS on PC. There needs to be gats on that one.

A cool variation of this would be the ability to "stalk" a person and snipe them or something. With options for a full bustling city of people to work around - or to have the city completely barren except for you and the victim. Omega Man, baby!

Also, am I the only one that thinks it would be cool to have a 'zombie' cheat to turn all the citizens of the city into flesh eating undead creatures? How fucking cool would that be if they made a zombie game that borrowed from GTA's engine.
