Bored 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2004 Interesting in progress scores: Mississippi State 7, Maine 3 4th Arkansas State 21, #25 Memphis 16 Half North Carolina 28, Georgia Tech 13 late 4th New Mexico State 3, Troy 0 2nd UCLA's Maruice Drew has 220 yards rushing on 10 carries in the first half against Washington. Florida Atlantic beat another D-IA team in Middle Tennessee, 27-20. Update: North Carolina beats Georgia Tech 34-13. Talk about a let down to get crushed by a UNC team that nearly lost to William & Mary. Nevermind about the UL-Monroe/Arkansas score. Sportsline had it backwards. Urban Warfare 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2004 Well the Gators loose in a heart breaker. A total SHIT SHIT SHIT call by the ref costs Florida the game.
snuffbox 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2004 What the hell is with kickers missing extra points this year? No shit...Wisconsin dude missed one today, then the Badgers won when Arizona missed a lastsecond field goal.
therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2004 Man Wilhoit needed that or else there would've been "Wanted" posters of him all over Tennessee.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2004 That was a heck of a game between FL/TN. That said, is it just me or is college football at its worst in a long time? It seems like every week people are missing extra points, fumbling the ball all over the place, etc. It's not like these are scrubs doing it. Alleged good teams like LSU, Tennessee, and so on. I'm a little stunned by that Carolina score. U of L has them in Chapel Hill next week, and I'm a bit worried about it now.
Bored 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2004 Arizona State is crushing Iowa 24-0 right now. I had a feeling ASU would be a surprise team this year after being such a dissapointment last year. Pac-10 looks much deeper this year.
teke184 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2004 Apparently most kickers are suffering from Wade Richey Disease... That's the ability to kick a 50 yard field goal without breaking a sweat but a total inability to hit a PAT to save their life. This is named after former LSU kicker Wade Richey, who went on to kick for the San Francisco 49ers. He's currently a kickoff specialist for the Baltimore Ravens. teke184 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2004 Nobody else has any thoughts on my game? Damn am I the only one that watches OU play during the season? Pretty much... I know that MY portion of the country tends to get SEC games primarily and the non-SEC games tend to be with Notre Dame, Conference USA, the ACC, and the Big 10. I usually don't get squat from the Big 12 unless they're playing an OOC game or they're on ESPN.
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2004 Yeah. On the east coast, the most I got of the Big XII was TCU/Texas Tech on our Fox Sports affiliate. I did catch the end of Auburn/LSU, though. Freakin' great.
Bored 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2004 Arizona State should be ranked after tonight but they probably won't be since most of the country, including myself, can't see the game. ASU 37, #16 Iowa 0 in the 4th. Score of the Day: Maine 9, Mississippi State 7 The honeymoon for Sylvester Croom is over. Maine hadn't played a I-A team in 13 years. After their wins over Marshall and Missouri, Troy dropped their Sun Belt opener 22-15 at New Mexico State. Clemson is really proving what many thought coming into the season and that they were vastly overrated. I don't even think they'll make it to a bowl game. Alabama's QB Brodie Croyle tore his ACL and he's done for the season. Injury happened when they already 31-0 on I-AA Western Carolina.
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2004 More fun weirdness: as seems to be standard procedure for the past few years, Georgia Tech is the most wildly inconsistent team in the ACC. They pull off a last-minute stunner and then get their asses trounced by UNC. All I can say is that with Clemson, GT, and FSU all looking at one ACC loss already, it's nice to be a Virginia fan. Guest Flyboy Report post Posted September 19, 2004 Nobody else has any thoughts on my game? Damn am I the only one that watches OU play during the season? I watch them because I get ton of their games in my region and I only watch in hopes of an upset. And, then I realize the teams they face and laugh. TTU should give that OU shaky defense fits next week, I know that much.

therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2004 Am I the only one that thinks Virginia could win the ACC this year? They get Miami in Charlottesville in November and if they don't lose games they're supposed to win, it could happen.
teke184 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2004 Am I the only one that thinks Virginia could win the ACC this year? They get Miami in Charlottesville in November and if they don't lose games they're supposed to win, it could happen. Virginia is a dark-horse pick to win the ACC and get into the Orange Bowl. This is because some sportswriters believe in the "five-loss theory", which says that a team that has five losses in the previous season will win the national championship. Examples of this include Ohio State in 2002, LSU in 2003, and Oklahoma in 2000.
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2004 Am I the only one that thinks Virginia could win the ACC this year? They get Miami in Charlottesville in November and if they don't lose games they're supposed to win, it could happen. I, of course, agree with that idea. I've been to both shit-kickings against UNC and Akron, and the Cavaliers are really getting it going. The o-line/running game are fantastic, and they've been successfully cycling between 4 different rushers, all of whom are pretty good. The front seven is suffocating now that the young guys have a year or two of experience. The secondary is still a bit of a question, never quite breaking but bending a lot in some scenarios. An ACC championship is definitely within reach, especially considering how much parity we've already seen in the mid-levels of the conference (Clemson beats Wake, GT beats Clemson, UNC beats GT, etc.). What I *really* think will happen, though, is a 9-2 year and probably a Gator Bowl game. FSU in Tallahassee may be too much to ask if Rix has a good game, simply because the UVa cornerbacks aren't tested and a really good QB could rip them apart. I do actually think that we'll beat Miami, because in four years of watching them, the Cavs play so, so much better at home than they do on the road. I know that's true for everyone, but it's a big disparity with them. But there's always some should-be-a-gimme game that we drop, and this year I think it'll probably be against Georgia Tech in Atlanta. They're the most inconsistent team in the ACC, again, but we somehow always fuck up against them.
Guest MikeSC Report post Posted September 19, 2004 Clemson is really proving what many thought coming into the season and that they were vastly overrated. I don't even think they'll make it to a bowl game. Absolutely, their one win was a gift and a half. They still have to play at FSU, at Miami, I believe at Virginia, NC State --- heck, the only winnable games, as it stands, are Duke and Utah State for the rest of the season. -=Mike
