STROKES SCRAP NEW ALBUM!

THE STROKES have scrapped plans to release their imminent live album.

The band had planned to immortalise last year’s Christmas shows at London’s Alexandra Palace on a CD, scheduled to hit the shops at the end of 2004.

However, a spokesperson told NME.COM that Julian Casablancas has changed his mind about the release.

He said the singer went into the studio to listen to the album after it had been mastered but was not happy with its quality.

The news will disappoint those who were at the show, which NME hailed as a "London-quaking event" and saw members of Oasis, The Libertines and Coldplay all turn up.

The Strokes are currently working on their third album with Gordon Raphael in New York. Scrapping the live album hasn’t changed their plans to release ’The End Has No End’ as a single on November 1, backed by a cover of The Clash’s ’Clampdown’.
