Bored 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2004 Incomplete Week 3 Useless Information -The Everyone Agrees Picks: Michigan over San Diego State, Wisconsin over Arizona (came so close to picking U of A), USC over BYU. -Games with the most differing picks: LSU vs. Auburn a virtual tie 15-15, Florida over Tennessee 16-14, Pittsburgh over Nebraska 16-14. -JHawk (Kent State) was the only poster to pick Oregon over Oklahoma -Cartman (USC) has more balls than all of you. He picked UAB over Florida State. -Not So Useless Information: By being late on their picks (thus not having a chance at a point for tonight's game or winning by tiebreak) and only differing on one pick, Oregon (nogoodnick) has already lost to Oklahoma (Damaramu). teke184 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2004 Between AoO picking Boston College and hitting the combined-points tiebreaker on the head, I'm in a world of shit... I'm hoping that 4 out of the 5 remaining differing picks break my way or I'm screwed. I'd say that out of my 5 remaining picks, UCLA and Minnesota will probably win. The problem is that LSU/Auburn and Florida/Tennessee could break either way and I was uneasy about picking Texas A&M over Clemson, as both teams have underachieved so far this season. Fökai 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2004 Will the BCS rankings continue to include opponents' score as a factor? If one of the teams forfeit, the opposing team will be screwed in the long run. EDIT in response to post below: Must've missed that. Thanks for the clarification.
Bored 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2004 I've gone over this, teams who play a team who forfeited will not be penalized. A team's points against when playing a team that forfeited will be one less point than the number of points they score. Last week AlwaysPissedOff pick 14 games right and for his opponents score I put 13. The team that forfeits gets a 0 in both columns.

Cartman 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2004 -Cartman (USC) has more balls than all of you. He picked UAB over Florida State. ...or just plain stupidity I have to admit, i've never really gotten into College Football until THIS year. I always watched from a distance(like watching the Championship game and a couple bowl games, following who was good and bad on SportsCenter, etc.) So you are more apt to see me take long shot risks like UAB over Fl. St. Not to mention I think Florida State has possibly the most overrated QB in the NCAA that I know of.

Der Kommissar 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2004 Alright! Two conference wins in a row! It looks like I did quite well, as, barring a miracle comeback by Colorado St. or BYU, it looks like my only missteps this week were TCU and Clemson, and it looks like my riskier picks(Nebraska, Auburn, UCLA) pulled through. I hope my luck continues as I have an absolutely brutal schedule the next two weeks with undefeated Washington St. and former number 2 Virginia coming up. Should be fun. Bored 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2004 Oh there is some bullshit this week. We have our first CONTROVERSY~! I've added in parenthesis each team's ranking in win/loss record, total points pct., and points against pct.(aka strength of schedule) to help illustrate why the rankings turned out this way. BCS Top 10 thru Week 3 1. Virginia - Edwin MacPhisto 4.33 (6/4/3) 2. Ohio State - Gert T 6.00 (1/1/16) 3. Hawaii - Will Scarlet 8.33 (6/3/16) 4. Notre Dame - Lando Griffin 8.67 (1/4/21) 5. Alabama - AlwaysPissedOff 8.67 (6/4/16) 6. Miami - Spaceman Spiff 9.67 (6/15/8) 7. Auburn - Agent of Oblivion 10.00 (6/8/16) 8. Syracuse - Canadian Chris 10.00 (6/12/12) 9. Oklahoma - Damaramu 10.33 (1/2/28) 10. Kent State - JHawk 10.67 (16/8/8) *runs and hides*
teke184 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2004 Bored... these ratings are a bit weird. J-Hawk is 1-2 and yet he's still in the top 10. Strength of Schedule can't be playing THAT big a role, can it? Could you please give us some expanded rankings so that some of can figure out if we're getting boned by Strength of Schedule or if it's by poor scoring?
Bored 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2004 There's a reason why the real BCS doesn't reveal their rankings until about midway through the season and that's because the early results are just too bizarre. I don't think the rankings will take a real shape until about Week 6 or 7. JHawk has been picking well and has had some bad luck so he's better than his 1-2 record. Hey I'm undefeated and unranked in my own contest! My opponents have been picking like shit, barely over 50% of games correctly picked. If posters outside the Top 10 want to know their ranking you can request them and I'll PM you. I'd like to keep the rankings outside the Top 10 a bit of a mystery. Fökai 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2004 For me, seeing those expanded rankings next to the BCS rankings totally clears up any confusion I may have had the BCS process. On an added note, I'd like to see my expanded rankings. I figure that although I'm 3-0, my opponents have yet to have had a great game against me. That'll change next week with my Pac-8 debut against Scarlet's Warriors.
