So here's the million dollar question...what do they do now with Christopher Reeve dying since he was involved in a big storyline on the show? Do they say that Dr. Swan died?

Simple. They use Margot Kidder instead and storyline wise say that he passed away but told her all about Kal-El to protect him.

I think that would be the best scenario.

 

Here's hoping that the producers of Smallville mention Reeve's passing and honor him before this week's episode starts. I can only imagine how the cast is feeling right now.

Here's some good news:

October 12, 2004: “Smallville” to Honor Christopher Reeve

 

TV Guide reports that the producers of "Smallville" are preparing a tribute to Christopher Reeve. The dedication will air at the top of Wednesday's episode (8pm/ET), confirmed a network spokesman, who declined to provide further details.

As "Smallville" fans know, Christopher Reeve had a recurring role as Dr Virgil Swann in the series.

I haven't posted here in awhile so I thought I'd post some of my thoughts.

 

*Interesting what they did with Chloe but, I figured they would drag out the where's Chloe storyline alittle bit longer.

 

*I'm digging Lois Lane but, the whole "I need a few more credits" seemed like a really bad way for her to be at the high school and interact with the gang. I'm glad they didn't drag it out and now have her going to college.

 

*I'm wondering were the Clark plays football storyline is going to. And like someone else said I can see Clark getting a college scholarship or tons money.

 

*I'm glad to see they brought up the feelings that Chloe still has for Clark.

 

*Question. Does anyone else thing that Lana boyfriend is going to go nuts and try to kill her just like every other guy that's had the hots for her has.

 

*I'm glad Clark and Lex are friends again. Lord knows Clark needs a friend since Pete is gone.

 

*I wonder what happened to Clark during his time as Kal El.

OK as far as I'm concerned, Daddy Kent needs to get off Clark's case about using his superpowers. If Clark can lead a crap team to a state championship, go undefeated, compile some ungodly stats, and get a full ride to college (otherwise known as NO COST TO YOU DADDY!) I'd say "Go for it son! Run some guys over, pass for 5000 yards, and get a nice ring out of it!" His protection of Clark's special powers is getting a bit into the paranoid area.

 

Otherwise, good to see Lois off to college. I like the eye candy as much as the next guy, but Chloe is filling the plucky reporter role nicely. Maybe next year when Clark heads to college. Chloe in a cheerleader outfit was weird and a bit alarming, although her promising to "relax" Clark in the barn was actually pretty funny. Lana and her new boyfriend/accident waiting to happen still does nothing for me. Lex is still a badass, although his dependency on Clark is getting a bit too one-note for me. Character development people!

 

Anyway, my DVR didn't record the promo for next week, so I have no opinion on it yet. I'll see a commercial or two for it I'd imagine.

I can't wait for next week -- Clark will FINALLY meet a future super-hero. Oh, and just in case anyone is wondering, the Flash will be Bart Allen (the former Impulse and current Kid Flash in the comics).

 

As for this week’s episode, I thought it was much better than the previous one. I really think the shows benefit when there’s no “freak of the week.” Hopefully, they’ll introduce Kenny Braverman/Conduit in Clark’s senior year. He could be a football player who gets jealous because of Clark’s success on the field.

Concerning the Dr. Swan stuff...I'm pretty sure they did the filming a while ago didn't they? So he still may make a few appearences, but I do agree with Dames as to what they could do to continue the story, although her appearing in the first place was a little...woa...it was just out there.

 

I'm definitely liking this season so far, and before it started I didn't think I'd enjoy Lois that much, but I'm loving the Lois character, and her just downright annoyance.

I don't think Jason will go nuts. At least, I hope not. Lana has been targeted way too many times. It would be a nice change to see Lana actually maintain a relationship with another guy without being in danger. Plus, if the Lana-Jason relationship remains stable, the writers could further develop Lois and Clark's eventual relationship.

 

I'm kinda digging Clark's football storyline. It should be interesting to see how things will turn out. I'm also curious to see if they'll mention the "Scarecrow" thing again.

Pretty good episode last night. I liked the way they characterized The Flash on the show, and I also liked the nods to other Flash identities and the eventual Justice League.

 

Next week looks to be exceedingly silly. I'm not a fan of absurd sci-fi notions like body transference. I will say, though, that both the powers transference shows were good in spite of themselves (and in spite of the fact that I hate that idea, too), so maybe this one will end up being OK. I'm not holding out much hope, though.

Well the episode was better than I thought it would be. Like Tom, I'm not a fan of body transference episodes, but this gave Welling and Glover a chance to show a little bit more acting ability (especially Glover, since Welling has the red Kryptonite episodes to fall back on when he wants to be "the bad boy"). I'm looking forward to how Lionel goes back to screwing up everyone else's lives, although he did a damn fine job tonight (especially Chloe. Damn I felt bad for her). I remain cautiously optimistic about the rest of the season, although I hope they clean up Dr. Swann's position in all this mess.

Interesting episode. I thought that Glover and Welling were fantastic in their switched roles.

 

I do wonder if we've seen the last of "evil Lionel", though. He seemed to be much more, dare I say it, NICER at the end of the episode. With all the talk of him being a "new man", it makes me wonder if his personality has changed as well. Maybe having Clark in his body both physically and spiritually cleansed him. He did look to be having a kind of religious experience with he jumped back to his own body.

I like the new direction, because it's bold, and if they stick with it it should be really good. I still have my doubt with this writing team at times, and they're pacing especially, but they've taken a bold direction with this episode. I'm worried still, because next week it seems like their just going to jet back to Clark/Lana/Cloey triangle, when they've done a lot better staying away from it and they seemingly can't deliver on it. They need to keep on pushing Lex in that direction.

I actually liked the take on Mxyzptlk. I'm glad that they didn't have his powers come about through contact with Kryptonite. Perhaps his powers are even mystical in nature? In any case, he looks to be a recurring villain, which is a good thing in my view. I thought the actor that played him did a good job. Working in the "Kltpzyxm" reference was also pretty cool.

 

So, where did Lex take Mxyzptlk at the end of the episode? My guess is that he has a whole bunch of meta-humans (both K induced and not) living there. I also think that Jason was fired because Lex has the hots for Lana. It would explain why he's so apprehensive about telling Clark why he revealed Lana and Jason's relationship. And the show seems to have been building up sexual tension with the two for a while now.

 

Overall, a good episode. Now if only we get Bizarro and Conduit/Kenny Braverman this season...

I think he jerked his head back and broke the scissors. At first I thought his hair had broken the scissors but that would make it hard for him to get a haircut.

Actually, I think his hair DID break the scissors. Jeph Loeb, one of the writers of the show and a comic book writer, did a scene where Clark's hair broke scissors in Superman: For All Seasons (a very good series, BTW).

 

As for how Clark cuts his hair when he's invulnerable, I don't think his hair and nails grow while he's under a yellow sun after he's absorbed enough energy.

I also remember in one of the comics or cartoons<can't remember> they showed one of Superman's hairs in a museum where it was holding up like a 1 ton weight, so yeah, his hair is strong, heh.

He lost his powers briefly after he came back from the dead. He only had a small amount of solar energy in his body, and had to gradually build it back up. I think he cut his hair during the time the sun was going to go out. He later received scissors provided by Wonder Woman (which had magical properties) and was able to cut his hair under a yellow sun.

 

Of course, we've also seen Clark shaving using reflected heat vision in the comics, so maybe SOME of his hair does grow.

I really liked this episode yet I'm somewhat disappointed. They built up the Lana thing and I was hoping for more payoff, or at least a bigger arc with her as the villain. I'm happy they didn't go straight back into the love triangle as I feared after last week.
