B: the franchise is so horrible your brain will explode from the sheer badness.

What's so bad about the franchise mode?

I only played it for about 2 hours last night, which was mostly fixing settings to how I like it, tweaking rosters, etc. but I will say it was the best $16.04 I've spent in a long time!

ESPN NBA 2K5 got a ps2.ign.com reader score of 8.6, NBA Live 2005 got a ps2.ign.com reader score of 9.2. For a rental it is better to rent the one with the higher average score decided by the people instead of spending twice as much by renting both games, however of course if you happen to not like NBA Live 2005 in this case, you can always rent ESPN NBA 2K5.

The gamespot review is a review based on one person, mine is based on the people, which means it is better. I already talked about why you would want to rent instead of buy earlier in this thread. Even if you happen to not like NBA Live 2005 and rent ESPN NBA 2005 it is cheaper than buying ESPN NBA 2005 in Best Buy.

Gamespot people's review for ESPN NBA 2K5 is still .4 points higher than NBA Live's people's review.

Personally, I like ESPN better.

While I somewhat agree with you about the reviews, even though there's a counterpoint above, how would that still be cheaper?

You rent NBA Live...don't like it, that's 6$. You then rent ESPN and find out you like it better and want to buy it. Already that's 12$. Then you go and buy it, that comes to a total of 32$. (It's normally 20, but if this week..27). And I don't know if you've noticed but 32$ > 20$.
