I'd probably say Clemens vs. Johnson would be the best match-up for the NL...mainly because I'm biased, and like both pitchers over Sheets. And for all the talk about Randy Johnson he's 14-14 this year and it's hard to see a .500 pitcher winning the Cy Young. Mind you, I'm not like John Kruk, thinking that the guy with the most wins should get the Cy Young...but you gotta at least win quite a bit more than you lose. That would require him pitching a shutout every single time out. Even then, he'd get a number of no-decisions. In Johnson's 14 losses, the D-Backs have scored more than two runs only twice. Johnson has 24 quality starts out of 33 total (an impressive number -- Clemens, his main competition, has 23 in 32 starts), and 13 of them came in losses or no-decisions (the D-Backs went on to lose all of those NDs, too). You can't blame the guy because he pitches on the worst offensive team in the majors. EDIT: As an aside, based on their league ranking in these categories, which of these pitchers should win the Cy Young? That's why you shell out the cash for MLB Extra Innings. I was skeptical at the beginning of the season because of the cost, but it was so worth it. I credit being able to see an average of 10 games a day as being what made me more interested in baseball. Until this season, it was rare that I watched a non-Cubs game on TV. But no starter with a subpar winning percentage has ever won the award. But I do think Johnson will place in the top three. Sabermetrics has changed the way some sportswriters think. I'm sure he couldn't care less, since they've got the division wrapped up, but a good Pujols at bat could've made it a game again.
