mike546 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2004 I might not care for Dodger fans, but they sure as hell do a better job chanting M-V-P for Beltre in unison than Yankee fans do for Sheff.

Guest Anglesault Report post Posted October 11, 2004 For a couple years now, the Gagne debate has raged on. Can he ever be considered as good as Rivera? Of course, the main argument against was that he blew it in the only game that meant something and that he had never seen the playoffs. Granted, wasn't ever in much of a big situation, but he looked pretty good.

Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2004 Gotta agree; very classy by the Dodgers to go out there and shake hands with the chaps that ended their season. A refreshing change.
Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2004 To be honest here, I'd rather have an Astros/Cardinals NLCS. The Braves are just...boring.
Slayer 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2004 How come we don't see that more often in baseball? Seems like the losing team always heads off into their clubhouse immediately I know they always shake hands after a hockey series and most of the time after NFL games too... not sure about NBA, but baseball never seems to do it

And the Dodgers have nothing to be ashamed of. They were overmatched, but they gave it their best shot.

Guest Anglesault Report post Posted October 11, 2004 How come we don't see that more often in baseball? Seems like the losing team always heads off into their clubhouse immediately Because when you end your season (and not on a bang, but a whimper, like LA did) you tend to be more concerned with breaking something. Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2004 To be honest here, I'd rather have an Astros/Cardinals NLCS. The Braves are just...boring. The Astros must lose for several reasons. I for one, think the Astros suck, a lot. They are one hell of an underachieving team. But the Braves...eww. When you have Beltran, Biggio, Berkman, Bagwell, and Lidge. That's pretty interesting. But then again you have Clemens. Heck, if the Astros some how win that series, and the Yanks win their series, i'd be glad to see the Yanks give Clemens an ass whooping. True, but there's also something called sportsmanship. They'd have something to be truly upset with if they were actually favorites to win the series. They weren't, by a longshot, so they've got nothing to be embarrassed about.

We agree on this, but I'm curious to hear your reasons How come we don't see that more often in baseball? Seems like the losing team always heads off into their clubhouse immediately Because when you end your season (and not on a bang, but a whimper, like LA did) you tend to be more concerned with breaking something. Again, they seem to do it well in other pro sports

The Astros have the added benefit of having taken 10 of 18 from the Cardinals during the season. I think those numbers are deceiving. A good deal of those wins came at the beginning at end of the season; neither of which were periods when the Cards were playing like the team we saw the majority of the season. Guest Anglesault Report post Posted October 11, 2004 They'd have something to be truly upset with if they were actually favorites to win the series. Yes, but if you were a Dodger, you would have liked to give the Cardinals a run and make them sweat a little.

We agree on this, but I'm curious to hear your reasons First and foremost, I've never particularly likes the Astros organization as a whole. Not a real hate, but I haven't ever cared for them. Secondly, I'm a sap for those "such and such a team has never ____" things. I like to keep tradition going. I don't want to see the Astros win a playoff series. And of course, I don't want Ol' Rodge anywhere near the NLCS.
