Guest Smues Posted October 9, 2004 Report Posted October 9, 2004 And here's Lidge. Please oh please oh please oh please let his arm be tired from the last outting. Of course he'll strike out the side, but it's nice to dream.
Guest Smues Posted October 9, 2004 Report Posted October 9, 2004 And Giles strikes out swinging.................................................... I'm gone
Bruiser Chong Posted October 9, 2004 Report Posted October 9, 2004 I haven't seen swings that ugly since the summer I had to umpire little league teams that had girls on them.
bob_barron Posted October 9, 2004 Report Posted October 9, 2004 So Game 4 is when the Astros choke like bitches right? Giles-Drew-Jones: dead lineup walking
bob_barron Posted October 9, 2004 Report Posted October 9, 2004 I haven't seen swings that ugly since the summer I had to umpire little league teams that had girls on them. How desperate for money WERE you?
Bruiser Chong Posted October 9, 2004 Report Posted October 9, 2004 I haven't seen swings that ugly since the summer I had to umpire little league teams that had girls on them. How desperate for money WERE you? Not that desperate. They weren't all-girl teams. There were just the occassional teams that had a couple of girls on the them and as you'd imagine, they were essentially worthless.
bob_barron Posted October 9, 2004 Report Posted October 9, 2004 Things I learned from today's game: We suck unless it's Andruw Jones. It is ridiciously easy to get a hit in Minute Maid Park...unless you're on the Braves. If you're on the Braves and have a great regular season- you suddenly go hitless in 3 of the biggest games of the season. Jeff Bagwell was funnier when he choked like a bitch and couldn't do anything. I should watch more games on 3 hrs of sleep. I control my anger a lot more. We're most likely fucked. I have a question: Was MMP this loud in oh JULY? Because it seems like a lot of these people became diehard Astro fans in September. Want to confirm that for me Bruiser?
The Man in Blak Posted October 9, 2004 Report Posted October 9, 2004 Well, it's not like Astros fans had a lot to cheer about before September.
Bruiser Chong Posted October 9, 2004 Report Posted October 9, 2004 To their credit, MMP has been pretty rocking when there's been something to cheer about. Small, intimate ballparks tend to help create that atmosphere, though. When I refer to their bandwagon fans, I'm talking about the ones who thought they were absolutely finished, even after they had started to make their run at it in August.
Guest Smues Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 Did they just call him Roger Chemens? I couldn't even figure out who they were talking about that was such a bad mispronounciation. And bah Atlanta goes down in 10 pitches
Guest Smues Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 Russ Ortiz is pitching. All I ask is that we don't get blown out.
the max Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 Russ Ortiz is a "veteran right-hander"?
Guest Smues Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 To the post-season I guess. Having gone to the world series with SF and now two NLDS with Atlanta. Chipper Jones finally gets a hit to give me some hope. Wasn't a great hit by anymeans, but it was a basehit.
Guest Smues Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 Roger Clemens with a sac fly 2-1 Atlanta.
Guest Smues Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 ................................. ................................. ................................. Biggio pops one up into foul territory, but then it hits the roof and Ortiz catches it. Because it hit the roof in foul territory it's a foul and not an out. Then boom homerun. FUCK YOU Minute Maid park that's bullshit.
Guest Smues Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 Russ Ortiz is pitching. All I ask is that we don't get blown out. 5-2 Astros, 2nd inning. Huge momentum going. FUCK
Downhome Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 This is pissing me off. Fuck the roof.
Guest Smues Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 That ball was going to be caught. That's such bullshit that it hitting the roof makes it foul.
Guest Smues Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 Come on Russ one strike and the inning is over.
Guest Smues Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 Thank you. (Realizes we need to get 3 runs off Roger clemens, and our pitching staff isn't likely to hold Houstin to just these 5 runs) FUCK
Guest Smues Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 After getting the first 2 runners on Giles strikesout and Chipper hits into a doubleplay. Lovely.
Slayer Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 I see this echoing the Cubs from last year A big deal will be made (if) because the Astros won their first postseason series ever (like how the Cubs won their first since they actually won a WS), but they'll lose in the NLCS and it's back to Disheartenedville for Houston
Conspiracy_Victim Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 Actually I'll be somewhat disappointed but not devastated IF the Astros reach the NLCS and lose simply so all the damn talking heads on the TV will shut up about how "they've never won a playoff series".
Bruiser Chong Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 I'd hate to be an Atlanta fan right now. You guys must feel like the poor schmuck with the girlfriend who cheats on you time and time again, promises she's changed, only to break your heart again. At least the Cubs don't wait until the postseason to choke. And speaking of the Cubs, I feel like I'm watching them reincarnated in the form of the Atlanta Braves right now. How many more chances to tied this game up does Roger need to give you guys before you actually do something about it?
Guest Smues Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 12 outs left and our season is over.
