Praise Be to Kerry/Edwards!

Thanks a lot Rob E.

The picture I put together and posted earlier really does fit that whopper.

I did specificly hear Edwards say the quote that is in the first page of this thread also, just for the record.

Posted
the actual quote is

"We will do stem cell research, We will stop juvenile diabetes, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and other debilitating diseases. America just lost a great champion for this cause in Christopher Reeve. People like Chris Reeve will get out of their wheelchairs and walk again with stem cell research."

Dumb...

Is it really that difficult to say 'might' instead of 'will'?

I haven't seen the audio yet, but I do have to point something out again.

"When John Kerry is president..." WAS said by Edwards, and it's very important that it's known he included that in his quote. For some reason the above website omitted it, but he did say it. Here is how it should be on that site.

This isn't an excuse. This is common sense.

The Conservative outrage is completely unwarranted here. It would just be much easier and more sensical if everyone found something else to be terribly offended about.

It's Edwards fault for saying something idiotic. He's simply your party's Dan Quayle. Enjoy it.

Jesus, Bush got raked over the coals for facial expressions during the first debate.

Well, Hannity & Colmes played the clip.

BTW, if Kerry is elected and these problems AREN'T cured, would that constitute a campaign lie?

Well, he flat out said that they WOULD take care of these problems, no questions asked, so I'd assume so. You can't get much clearer than what Edwards said.

And I suppose if the French don't have parades in our honor, that would ALSO be a lie.

Man, I hope, for his sake, Kerry doesn't win. He's going to have a brutally hard time living up to everything.

Then again, he had the sense to not promise to unify voters.

Oh, and mark it down --- I will put money up that Kerry will raise taxes on more than just people making $200,000/year. I GUARANTEE he'll do it. I take his "no tax hike" pledge as seriously as I took Clinton's promise of a middle class tax cut in 1992 (a vow, mind you, he broke before he even took office).

They should only raise taxes on those people who believe that bullshit, just because they were stupid enough to believe that he wouldn't in the first place. :D

If the Republicans keep the House, I don't see a Kerry tax increase happening on those making over 200K, much less other people

Not through a lack of effort. He'll propose a "deficit reduction package" which will increase taxes.

Unless it's an absurdly thin Republican majority (such as 218 Republicans, 216 Democrats, Bernie Sanders).. I'm pretty sure that a tax hike wouldn't be passed though the house.

(not to mention there's Democrats who wouldn't vote for that)

I think that the Democrats who made it through the Republican Revolution of 1994 would be VERY wary about passing tax increases.

Enough Dems got voted out in those mid-term elections for the Republicans to take both houses for the first time since Eisenhower was the president.

So you tell me. Is 10/11/04 before or after 10/10/04.

I don't know, you apparently had a little red bar covering the answer.

My point is that Reeve thought stem cell research could cure him. Why isn't that an outrage? It may be a stupid idea, but definitely not an insult to Reeve who believed in the idea himself.

But as a campaign promise - Its stupid.

I think I misread your first post, in that I thought you were calling me stupid and putting me down for thinking it was said after Reeve's death.

First off the exact quote is:

If we do the work that we can do in this country, the work that we will do when John Kerry is president, people like Christopher Reeve will get up out of that wheelchair and walk again

Oh good. What trash. As a disabled person, I have to say this is probably more shameful and idiotic than Reeve's Super Bowl walking commerical since it came from the mouth of a VP canidate.

This comment really clinched it. My vote is going to Bush.

Actually, before Debate 1 I was going to make a throw-away vote since I don't live in a swing state. Since I've been leaning way away from Kerry.

Not at all, and I apologize for the misunderstanding.

Well, I'm glad that's cleared up. I really thought you were voting Democrat for a while there.

After all, some hippie scum keyed my wife's car thanks to the Bush/Cheney sticker I put on it. If I don't vote for Bush now, then the hippies win...

The myth Kerry is trying to pass off as truth is that embryonic stems cells can cure a victim of spinal cord injury. FALSE!!

The hot area of research to treat spinal cord injuries is the development of drugs that will complete the connection between spinal cord cells that have been damaged.

After an injury, the damaged cells form scar tissue. The nerve impulse stops at the point of injury.

Now the reality with the use of embryonic stem cells is this. Stem cells, given intravenously, may find the damaged cells in the spinal cord and then generate into specialized nerve cells. However, the problem is, this does not solve the problem of scar tissue. Even though you may be able to generate new specialized nerve cells, the impulse will still be blocked by the scar tissue.

Therefore Kerry and Edwards version of junk science is completely false. Therefore, it is outrageous to claim that a vote for them means that thousands of paralyzed victims will be cured!!

There is also research in the development of drugs that will prevent the formation of damaged nerve cell scaring, that will be given in the emergency room, right after a spinal cord injury.

Having nerve damage in my left leg I can vouch for this.
