Dr. Tom Posted October 20, 2004 Report Posted October 20, 2004 Voting more than once. I'm with the Colonel in thinking that "disenfranchised" is a loaded term. Convicted felons are disenfranchised by law, and while I don't necessarily agree with that, I think someone voting more than once is worse.

I have a bigger problem with Kerry having 6 teams of lawyers ready to file suits on the eve of the election to try and switch the results, as they nearly did in 2000. Call the election commission to see where you should go --- or just read the paper, which tends to have that information. 2) A database for voters MUST be created, immediately. One that permits immediate removal of invalid voters and where mistakes in purges can be quickly remedied. 3) NO city should get more than 5% more ballots than they have registered voters (Milwaukee has requested TWICE as many ballots as they have registered voters). 4) SEVERE penalties for anybody filing AND filling out fraudulent registration forms. Make this obvious crime a major crime. 5) No campaign official should be permitted to be NEAR a polling place. They can vote and then they must leave. -=Mike

And, I can speak from my days of registering for classes --- if you want to guarantee that voting will take HOURS, insist that printers must give out a receipt. -=Mike

You'd have to have at least one IT guy at every polling place in the country, never mind the spare paper and toner you'd need. The costs would be thru the roof, and all it would do is gum up a process that's already pretty gummy.
