When you were a kid...........

Recommended Posts

laundry basket for cage matches! never thought of that, but i guess my mom would have kicked my ass, so maybe its a good thing

but anyways, sometimes i would have WWF matches, and sometimes i didnt

i didnt have any WWF figures, thus not a lot of WWF matches, so more often than not it was two different types of ninja turtles figures, and some extras (i had 2 each of leonardo and raphael of one kind, and than another leonardo and raphael of a different kind), fighting against a supergroup of new and old batmans, the newer batman and robin complete with a cape and some type of weapon, and the older ones with less muscle but more movement (gold and blue batman)

i remember my little brother chewed of all off batmans horns, so it was basically batman with a pointy-nosed skimask for most of them

another angle done BEFORE ever seeing it on WWF tv was the hit and run angle, but it involved the batmobile and usually robin, batman and robin usually fueded

when i did eventually get a WWF ring, it had the NOD rocky maivia, savio vega, hunter hearst helmsley and some other guy. I also had this tall ghostbuster guy i used as psycho sid, but i broke his arms off and lost them, and also his mouth was always permanently open and his tongue sticking out, so it was a very crippled sid

and like a lot of you i also had some oddities in the bunch, this huge guy from spawn with rocket launchers on his shoulders, and rocksteady from ninja turles (the big halfman, half rhino) and his arm broke off too, so i glued and duct taped it together and called the duct tape body armor

usually when i had WWF matches i made a belt out of tinfoil and rocky usually had it, id always have him drop hunter on his head from the top turnbuckle and stuff like that

How the hell am I not the only one who used Smash as a top star?

:)

Because Smash kicked ass and Ax didn't...and he had a better body stance.

Using masking tape as a mask was always a good way to freshen up a character. I taped up Jim Duggan's face and called him "Rock". This was in the early 90s btw. He was in the 4 Horsemen. My Horsemen, as I recall, were Arn Anderson, Lex Luger, Brian Pillman and Rock.

I turned Jim Duggan Japanese (song pun-intended) and made him feud with Hulk Hogan and renamed him "Chainsaw" Jim Duggan to make his name more heelish. Duggan always did need a gimmick change...too bad I didn't make him Canadian, or I had WCW's idea 7 years before-hand.

I just used some cloth and taped it down around their neck, so they could be easily removed and reapplied. I have vivid memories of putting strips from a grey t-shirt and black tape to make a heel tag team. I put the masks over the bodies of 2 Stan Hansens, and thus they were identical, and used to pull the 'masked heels switch mid-match routine' for a while.

As someone mentioned on page one, I also used to use a red marker to make the wrestlers look like they were bleeding.

I had over 100 guys from He man, Rambo, Chuck Norris' Karate Commandos, Thundercats, GI Joes, X-men, Silver Hawks, batman, WCW, WWF, AWA, Terminator, Pee Wee's Playhouse, Police Accademy, TMNT and god knows where else.

My main guys were:

Faces:

Macho King,

Rambo,

Brian Appocalypse (A new adventures of he man figure)

Iron Mike powers (Hulk Hogan's Thunderlips doll)

and Fuel (2 terminator dolls- 1 named Diesel and one named Oil) Oil ended up getting burned in an angle and thus turned his name to scorch

Later i added Rock, Mankind and Austin, Sting and others to the top of the card as i acquired them

Heels:

The Enity (Some giant green robot/ghoul mystery figure) He was all powerful and overthru Doomsday (A Hordac figure) as leader of my Dungeon of Doom esque group full of Heman villains

Prince - (Prince Adam Doll) A pompous A-hole who dominated my fed from his debuet onward - a precursor to HHH as he had a group called the Alliance with Arn Anderson and Thrasher (A BIG Vader doll) and they went over everybody for months until Arn asked that Ron Simmons be added to the group....Thrasher was aganist it and Prince was for it....this caused a riff that led to Macho King finally beating prince for the Universial title and Thrasher being slammed and pinned for the first time ever by anyone (Iron Mike Powers had the honor)

The undercard was a mixed bag of jobbers:

Ring Annoncer Pete - AKA a King of Cartoons Doll from Pee Wee's Playhouse) who jobbed in seconds on a weekly basis until he went away for a month - came back and said he went to wrestling school, and thus started winning

I also had Farmer Ben Horowitz (A Hillbilly Jim Thumb wrestler) He had only one hand since I had chewed it off in my youth, and thus he had the back story of being involved in a Farm machinery accident

Radar - a Roddy Piper thumb wrestler who started as a Pvt in a military group i was pushing....he sucked so he snapped and got his uncle "Roddy" Piper to train him and thus he was now "Rowdy" Ricky Piper....eventually he turned on Roddy and formed the Beat-alls a group of jobbers who adored the beatles and were sick of losing....that was toward the bitter end of my booking

I had weekly PPV's and ran 9 Shows a week (2 on Sunday morning, then the PPV then a 30 min recap show- I was a busy boy sunday)

I had some goofy gimmick matches like Vietnam Jungle death match (Macho King vs Max Muscle - Prince's body guard) Both wore camo and fatigues as they fought in the jungle and this led to max being burned in a fire pit, going crazy and becoming "Commando Max"

I also had a Hay Bale Brawl with Farmer Ben taking on someone within my Little people's Farm playset.

"Loser gets a circumcisian" was one of my more brutal stipulations

"Loser loses his soul" - Red Demon (A Silverhawks baddie) vs Reveren Tim Duggan (Jim Duggan's cousin) Rev. Tim had preched that The evil people were taking over my fed, and vulgarity and TandA was becoming rampant - So obviously a fued with a Devil was a must--- Tim ended up jobbing and had his soul taken - he then turned Vulgar and violent and burned a bible

That reminds me of my Stone Cold Steve Austin vs Enityfued - Enity had took over Austin's mind with Voodoo or whatever and Austin was doing his bidding- this all led up to a big PPV main event with Austin/Enity vs Rambo/Macho King (or some combination of good guys) The Heels were kicking ass and dominating big time....so the faces resorted to there secret weapon....Rambo tossed Austin a beer....he paused...looked at it....Enity demanded he toss it aside....Austin paused again....cracks it ....chugs......flips out and stuns The Enity.....

Ahhhhh...so many more memories....2-3 notebooks full of detailed results....ahhh the good ole days!

I'm glad I'm not the only loser who did this crap...(continues hiding notebooks full of results). Wow, I didn't realize Smash was a 43x Intercontinental Champion of the Universe.

I had Virgil and Ric Flair feud for Intercontinental title for a while and Tatanka and Sid feud for the world title. That's all I remember. I used to be a big Virgil fan for some reason, even around 93-94 when he was a JTTS.

i had some wwf hasbro figures (bossman, macho king with crown and sceptor, rockers 2 pack, hulk hogan with hulk squeeze his arms were posed together and could be opened for a bear hug, as well as some old wcw figures like ric flair rick steiner, lex luger and sid, had a couple of bigger bendable wcw ones like sting, windham, flair, sid, luger )

I just made up my own fed the NWF (National Wrestling Federation) and basically renamed all my figures. also used my ninja turtles figs as well as various gi joes and action figs of all kinds, i idnt have that many so I used some guys as different wrestlers. i even held monthly ppvs (i still have index cards with match results on them including time of the match which I timed with a stopwatch) i stopped this about 97 when I basically had broke all my figures or messed them up (what a fool I could make some cash selling old figures in minth cond on ebay) literally macho kings head fell off as well as hogans lower boday (so I taped him together again)

At around 1993-95, I used Tom Zenk as Chris Benoit. Didn't look all that far off.

I also used HBK Shawn Michaels as Jeff Jarrett since I already had Rocker Shawn. Giant Gonzalez was Diesel. And finally since I had Macho Man and Macho King, Macho King would become . . . Blake Beverly!

I had some paint markers that I would use to repaint mine. I hade the Ring Fighters Bret Hart that I repainted to look like Raven, he was my world champ. My tag champs were Chris Benoit and Kanyon, and my Jr. Heavyweight champ was Atlantis (Rey Jr. repainted)

I had the entire WWF action figures and ring. I added some Ninja and Mongolian looking Warrior who were almost twice has big as the other action figures. They'd dominate and do moves like the top rope piledriver, flying powerbomb off the top rope, a veriation on the doomsday device, plus others.
