Mik Posted October 28, 2004 Report Posted October 28, 2004 Manny, in my opinion, just belittled the entire city of Boston in his entire interview. First, he mentioned how they wanted to trade him and how he kept believing in himself. Then, when they asked him what he would say to all of the fans who waited so long for this, his response was "Oooooh, we want Alex. Well, I just kept believing in myself. I love you guys." Jeanne Zelasko looked mortifed. It was 100% on the Unintentional Comedy Scale. Didn't anyone else see this?
Guest Smues Posted October 28, 2004 Report Posted October 28, 2004 Damn I went upstairs to start thawing a hamburger, angry I missed that, sounds brilliant.
Guest The Shadow Behind You Posted October 28, 2004 Report Posted October 28, 2004 I don't think he belittled the city. Typical of people to take it the wrong way. It took 5 minutes for someone to stop celebrating and bitching about something. Typical.
Mik Posted October 28, 2004 Author Report Posted October 28, 2004 Why the hell would I celebrate, dude? I'm a Marlins fan. I don't jump on bandwagons. It was hilarious. In fact, I'd go as far as to say it was the funniest thing I saw all week, and that's including what happened to Ashlee Simpson on SNL. It was GOLD.
Mole Posted October 28, 2004 Report Posted October 28, 2004 I missed this, but the way it sounds, it is pure BoSox comedy. Along with Pedro's "Whose Your Daddy?" line.
bob_barron Posted October 28, 2004 Report Posted October 28, 2004 What was the song played in the postgame video package? Before 'At Last'.
bob_barron Posted October 28, 2004 Report Posted October 28, 2004 I think that was it- I'm not sure. I've heard it before (In the Friday Night Lights trailer, and SATC clip show) and I've always liked it
the max Posted October 28, 2004 Report Posted October 28, 2004 Manny's postgame press room conference: "So, I tell my wife, 'hey baby...this is gonna be my year'" THAT'S gold.
2GOLD Posted October 28, 2004 Report Posted October 28, 2004 Gotta love Manny. I didn't even know this game was on. Kinda sad, I lost all interest in MLB this post-season after that Yankees-Twins game 2.
Guest Boomer Sprinklespax Posted October 28, 2004 Report Posted October 28, 2004 Anyone know the song? :-) It's "The Golden Age" by Beck. Wonderful song. The entirety of Sea Change is pretty great in general.
Brett Favre Posted October 28, 2004 Report Posted October 28, 2004 He also said "I'm going to Disney World", which got a good pop.
nl5xsk1 Posted October 28, 2004 Report Posted October 28, 2004 I don't think Manny belittled Boston at all ... what he said was the truth, people were ready to run him out of town, and Nose-mar too, for Rodriguez & Ordonez. The fact that the steakheads in Boston changed their tune, and now say how stoked they are that the Sox have Manny, doesn't erase the fact that this entire city had a collective hardon over getting A-Rod.

Does in the mind of Red Sox fans. I am under the impression Boston would have stabbed a 12 yr old in the middle of the street if they thought it would have gotten them the ring. ....come to think of it. Did anyone check if the number of live chicken sacarfices went up in Boston this past week?
