Lil' Bitch Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 So, which PPVs did you order this year (Watched Rumble, No Way Out, Mania 20, and Vengeance at the sports bar.) Ordered Backlash, Judgment Day (only did it to support Eddie), and Bad Blood what influenced your decision to order Backlash - The Triple Threat mainly Judgment Day - I was only really interested in the RVD - Rey / Dudleyz match and Taker / Booker. Bad Blood - Really wanted to see Benoit / Kane and I felt it did deliver.
what Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 Rumble which sucked. Summerslam which was decent. Wrestlemania and Backlash which were very good.
Guest Korgath Posted November 4, 2004 Report Posted November 4, 2004 Here in Singapore, each PPV is sold in VCD-format for about US$6 for 3 VCDs and one "bonus" RAW VCD (which is basically one "RAW" show sloppily edited to show only the matches). Since the beginning of this year I've bought every PPV released up till No Mercy. Heck, it was worth it to see Benoit win the Rumble and Eddy win at No Way Out.
Si82 Posted November 4, 2004 Report Posted November 4, 2004 Yet another Birt... I ordered the following: Royal Rumble I'm a big fan of the Rumble (was the first WWF PPV I ever saw) and the matches looked decent as well as the hope of Benoit winning the Rumble match itself. Backlash Two reason for buying this one. The Orton/Foley Streetfight which had been hyped for about a year and the Benoit/Michaels/Triple H re-match from Wrestlemania XX. I'll probably end up buying Survivor Series and the rest of the PPV's I have either watched on Sky Sports or bought them on DVD.
Cuban Linx Posted November 4, 2004 Report Posted November 4, 2004 Like others i just ordered the Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania, the only two PPV's i see myself really considering ordering in the future. The Rumble itself is always the attraction and Rey/Noble and Eddie/Chavo pushed it over the top. Of course those matches ended up being given shit all for minutes so HHH/HBK could punch and bleed for 25 minutes or whatever. The Rumble was good, but if the Guerreros match and the Cruiser title match were given adequate time and HHH/HBK was something closer resembling their December Raw match and less an overwhelming disappointment it could have been a great PPV, particularly if we just pretend Holly going for the world title never happened. And Wrestlemania is Wrestlemania, being the 20th and the 'biggest event of all time' (not that i ever expected it to achieve the overwhelming hype) with enough matches that interested me, notably Benoit's was enough to get me to watch. And i personally didn't pay for either, so essentially getting them for free i was content. I very much doubt i'll be ordering any PPV other than those two for the forseeable future, there's really no big or dream matches the WWE has left that interest me enough to get me to order one of the shittier events so i'll be sticking to the more special attraction PPV's in the Rumble & Mania, if that.
ChrisMWaters Posted November 4, 2004 Report Posted November 4, 2004 I haven't ordered any. Partially because I was AT both Royal Rumble and WrestleMania this year, and the other part being that I don't have a digital cable box in my room.
Guest Your Olympic Hero Posted November 4, 2004 Report Posted November 4, 2004 The Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania were the only ones, and they were both well worth the purchase to watch Benoit's climb to the top and some great matches. And I attended the Great American Bash because it was the first WWE PPV close to where I live
Guest NitroJMS Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 I didn't order any, but I did attend WrestleMania XX and will be going to Survivor Series in a little over a week.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 Ones I ordered this year Royal Rumble No Way Out Wrestlemania Bad Blood Summerslam No Mercy Taboo Tuesday
The Mandarin Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 I didn't order any PPVs this year. Went out to watch Rumble (for the Rumble itself), No Way Out (to see Eddie win), WrestleMania (because it's WrestleMania) and Backlash (for the double main event), which were all good-very good. I also went out to watch Vengeance (Chris Benoit vs. Triple H) and Unforgiven (for Regal/Benoit vs. Flair/Batista), which were poor. I attended Summerslam, which was average, but fun. I'm not going to watch Survivor Series after seeing the quality of TV from the last few months.
Slickster Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 I either watch them for free at a local college or I download them the next day. I haven't bought a wrestling PPV since KOTR2001.
Styles Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 I ordered on TV if I was at home, or on the webcast if Im at school (which used to be so worth it since it was only 17.95...not anymore ) Royal Rumble: Ordered on TV (always order the Rumble, plus it was a good card). No Way Out: Ordered Webcast (I was excited for Eddy, and watching him and Brock made it all worth it). Wrestlemania XX: Ordered Webcast/bought DVD (like I need to explain) Backlash: Ordered Webcast (Great card) Judgement Day (did not order) Badd Blood: Watched at Hooters (met some friends, why not?) Great American Bash: (did not order) Vengeance: Watched at Hooters (ditto) Summerslam: Ordered on TV (was actually in Toronto up until that day, nearly went to the show, wasn't able to, came back too late to meet my friends, so I ordered the replay on TV). Unforgiven: Ordered Webcast (this is now 34.95...I really dont know why I ordered, it was a last minute thing and I had nothing else to do that night anyway). No Mercy: (did not order) Taboo Tuesday: (did not order-was at a Metallica show that night anyway). So out of the 12 shows offered so far this year I've ordered either on TV or online 6 of them, watched 2 at Hooters, and did not see 4.
Precious Roy Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 Rumble and Mania. Partly because they're Rumble and Mania, partly because Benoit was on the rise. I haven't bought anything after that because nothing made me need to buy them. Ditto. The prices are too outrageous and the product is too poor to shell out that kind of money 12-14 times a year. I'm not even sure if I'll get the Rumble or Mania next year the way things are shaping up, which would be only the second time in the last 15 years that I didn't order the big two (the other year was 2002 when I took a sabatical from the product during the Invasion).
