See that's another problem. For some reason OU is lambasted for having to come from behind against A&M and playing OSU(an intense rivalry game on the road btw)close when USC is praised as having a courageous come from behind win at Stanford and Oregon State and praised for playing a close game with Cal. It makes no sense.

Double standards at its finest. I do feel bad for you that your team is one of the most hated for no reason while my team is painted as America's Team or something to that effect.

Well let me put it to you like this.

Since Bob Stoops has come to OU:

1999: 7-5 lost Independence Bowl

2000: 13-0 and won the National Title by beating up media darling FSU

2001: 11-2 and beat Arkansas in the Cotton Bowl

2002: 12-2 went to the Rose Bowl when many said that they didn't belong there b/c of the conference they were in then went on to show everyone up by beating the hell out of Pac-10 darling WSU 34-14

2003: went 12-0 in the regular season. Everyone was saying they were the greatest team of all time and could beat some NFL teams then they experienced a complete meltdown against KSU and LSU including having there QB playing with a broken hand and foot.

So you figure out why we're so hated. We're good. And we're good every year.

Blame that on the Orange Bowl execs for being a bunch of asses and taking Iowa. Since Iowa was co-Big Ten champion they should've been in the Rose Bowl. Oklahoma should've been playing USC in the Orange Bowl.

The Rose Bowl was pissed about Oklahoma coming to Pasadena because of the tradition being screwed up for the second year in a row(Big Ten vs. Pac 10), and also because there were 10,000 empty seats during the game. The Big Ten champion usually brings a large number of fans with them to Pasadena for the Rose Bowl, and it didn't happen that year.

Yes but people hate on OU as if it is their fault. Just like last year. It was out of our hands and we were just playing the cards dealt to us. Why should we be hated? The system should be hated.

Yes but people take their frustrations out on OU because we have been the victim of circumstance.

But still. We come from behind or we play a close game and we're just not as good.

USC does it and it's courageous.

I dunno if I should be flattered b/c people expect more out of us apparently. They seem to expect us to beat everyone by 50. Or else I should be offended b/c people just want to find excuses to bash us and have an extreme double standard.

Like you said, Oklahoma has been winning a lot longer. USC only started winning in Carson Palmer's last year at USC. So USC is more refreshing.

Same idea in the NFL. People hate the Patriots, but they support the Steelers because the Patriots are too good too long, while Steelers are "courageous and plucky" for winning.

Yeah apparently every team I like is hated.

Well then people are going to have to start getting tired of USC b/c I have a feeling they'll be good just as long as OU. Hey maybe people will have to sit through USC/OU every year and get tired of that.

No USC is good for two or three more years, then they will suck. That's how USC is.

I dunno. As long as Pete Caroll is coaching. Then again USC hasn't been all that impressive this year.

Oh funny stat. The year that OU won the national title they barely escaped OSU and A&M.

Last year they didn't win it and they obliterated OSU and A&M.

This year they barely escaped OSU and A&M. Hmmm.......

I will be at the Nebraska game on Saturday. It should probably be the coldest game of the year.

And god dammit it's the first game I haven't had to wake up early to get to. Thank god. I didn't go to the Houston game so I have yet to experience a night game in Norman. Now I get to.....I can't wait.

And hopefully we drop half a hundred on these corn fed bastards.

Wait who was saying they could beat any NFL team. Even the best college teams would get destroyed by the worst NFL teams and I wouldnt be suprised if NFL Europe teams would kill college teams as well

Come off one of them tickets!!! :D

BTW, Dama, I got the Heisman Trophy winner in my avatar, what's your avatar going to come away with?

The Heisman trophy.....biatch!

And sorry I only got one ticket or I'd invite you Agent. Me and my friend Paul are going. We could use another man.

I was taking my friend Stacy Braddock(i'm not one to drop names but she is the #1 recruited softball player in the country) but she has to sit in the Student Athlete section. Bastards get their own section!

And lomasmoney I never heard that with my own ears. As guys on this board have told me there were people saying that OU could beat SOME NFL teams. I think it's ludicrous as well. Different game, different speed, different strength. Although OU and Miami stock their programs with NFL caliber talent on all sides of the ball. But still.......different game.

In my NCAA Football 2005 Franchise, playing as Arkansas State (hey their prestige sucks so that means fun rebuilding), I customized my non-conference schedule. I just killed USC, Georgia, LSU and OKLAHOMA (In Norman, no less) by scores over 50 each time and allowing ZIP. So in the game, Oklahoma ain't going to the Orange Bowl WHOO! (But then again, neither is USC)

There's talk that if KSU wins it's next 2 games that they'll be playing in the Big XII title game.

NOOOOOOO!

That is perhaps the worst matchup for OU b/c for some reason no matter how bad KSU sucks they always find a way to take OU to the wire!

I was thinking the Orange Bowl would be cool if we saw things that hadn't happened all season. Like OU and USC just took away one another's weapons.

White throws a pick on his first play from scrimmage(wait he did that in the Sugar Bowl), Peterson is stuffed for a 10 yard loss, Leinhart is sacked and fumbles it to be recovered for a TD, Reggie Bush is fucking laid out on the 10 yard line when returning a kick off.

Just cool stuff like that. Make it intense.

I swear the Big 12 is as unbalanced in terms of the divisions as C-USA is in basketball (at least for this last year, hee hee). In C-USA you have Louisville, Cincy, and Marquette all on one side and the other you have Memphis and jack shit. Come to think of it, the Big 12 is the same in basketball as well, with OU and TX fighting for their lives in the South while Kansas usually cruises to the Conf. title via a crap North.

I think it is time to simply take the two best teams from a league if you're gonna play these Conf. title games. Though to be honest I don't think OU vs. TX II would be much better than OU vs. Iowa St. Which is sad.

Posted

OU vs. TX II would be a great game and the setting would be changed which might be interesting.

I've always thought they should move OSU to the North and Colorado to the South. Then again OSU would just cruise to the North title.

The Big XII is different in basketball. It's suprisingly better in basketball than it is in football. It usually gets 5-6 teams in the tournament and it's a tough conference to play in. Then again you are right Kansas does cruise. But I think that's more Kansas talent than anything else. And now that OSU has come on the scene the Big XII's face has been changed for a few years in basketball b/c I'm pretty sure OSU is heading back to the final four. But that's for a different topic. Hehe.

I get to meet Josh Heupel. Yay. My final project in Journalism is an in-depth news story about the pressures and stress put on student athletes.

I'm going to interview my softball friend, Josh Heupel, Joe Castiglione(OU's AD), Kelvin Sampson, and hopefully one or two football and basketball players.

I just got an email inviting me as an OU season ticket holder to buy Big XII championship tickets.

My question was why do I want to spend 75 dollars to sit in the freezing cold in Kansas City to watch OU play Iowa State!?

Silly them! Expecting their fans to want to see the team play in the conference CHAMPIONSHIP game!

Maybe if the conference title game were between 2 SOUTH teams. You know the Big XII South is one of the best divisions in College FB. Unfortunately the Big XII also has the Big XII North which on the flipside is the WORST division in college football.

I was being sarcastic. I actually agree with you on that.
