I've been wondering for a long time as to how the late Davey Boy Smith was able to come back from that career threatening back injury that he suffered in WCW, 6 years ago. I mean, I've heard that he suffered 2 crushed vertebres, and was confined to a body cast or a wheelchair. What I want to know is, how did he come back from this injury to finally wrestle again when he came back to the WWF back in 1999?

Thanks in advance.

from the main fourm page, this is a completely misleading post title.

From the regular Old School page, it doesn't. I'm guessing he went through lots of physical therapy and pain killers, otherwise I have no clue how he would be able to wrestle again, especially so quickly (well, one year is pretty quick when that injury happens)

He did indeed suffer two crushed vertebrae, as well as four fractured discs, and was confined to a full bodycast upon leaving hospital. He recovered through natural recuperation, rehabilitation (after he decieded against having titanium plates implanted in his back which would end his wrestling career) and training. It was a remarkable recovery. It did, however, seem like a premature one as I think he started suffering back problems again and was sent to rehab by the WWF. I might be wrong on that last part though.

When you eat pain pills like they're candy, you "feel no pain" in every meaning of the word...

and I still blame Vince for Davey's death.

Even though Vince sent him to rehab and took him off the active roster anytime he felt that Davey had a drug problem?

And Davey died two years after being a part of WWE?

But Vince soon realised this and sent him to rehab (fully paid for) a couple of times. Considering Davey died two years after he was let go- blaming Vince is a stupid move.

And this is coming from someone whose favourite wrestler is the British Bulldog

Let's see...Bulldog fucked his back up because WCW made a stupid trap-door in the ring for the Warrior at WCW Fall Brawl, and Eric Bischoff, nice man he is, fired Bulldog from WCW while he was laid up in a hospital bed.

Vince if nothing was great to give the guy another job and pay for me rehab considering the above circumstances and the...Hart incident. Vince didn't shove pain killers down Bulldogs throat either if thats the only (weak) excuse for blaiming Vince.

Well Dynamite Kid kept going until he put himself in a wheel chair. Austin wrestled after breaking his neck and damaging both his knees to the point he can't even take a bump without being sore. Jushin Liger came back to wrestling after having a brain tumor. I can go on and on, but the point is giving up your passion ISN'T the easiest thing to do.
