Printers will break down. That is inevitable. That will lead to massive problems --- especially since it's hardly a guarantee that they can fix it. What happens if they break down late? When you were done, it ran the ballot through a scanner, and then you get to rip off your receipts from the bottom of the ballot. Seems simple enough.
