edotherocket 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2004 First thing I noticed during the opening level... there be some glitches during the cutscenes. Bit disappointing. The first guy I was talking to seemed to get stuck behind some machinery and later on in the level there was some problems with a character in the background who kind of melded with his surroundings. Gameplay totally rules though. I'm having 3 buddies come over on the weekend to try out multiplayer.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2004 Is this game mainly about the multi-player? I don't have Xbox Live so if I ever get this game it would be for the single player game only. I didn't care too much for the first Halo, so I'm in no hurry to play this one.
El Psycho Diablo 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2004 Unlike a lot of FPS games, Halo does have a fully fleshed out singleplayer mode. It's worth getting just for the SP alone. And thanks to Best Buy Reward Zone..I'm getting my copy for $10..

I didn't care too much for the first Halo, so I'm in no hurry to play this one. I dont know personally...but most likely. Multiplayer, IMO is fucking awesome, especially when you do a link up or something. 8-16 people, amazing. But the single player...I always thought seriously lacked. I haven't played the single player as much as I'd like to on Halo1, but I can't see what all the fuss is about (for those who really like the single player). And I think it'll be the same with Halo 2. But I don't care, me and a bunch of friends already have a Halo 2, 16 person link up set up for all day Thursday. Guest Shutterspeed Report post Posted November 9, 2004 I've never played Halo. In fact, I don't think I've ever even played an X Box outside of the department store display. Electronics Boutique in one of the malls uptown was having an 11 PM sale last night, running until 2 AM and a couple of friends went to that. I love those kind of things, so if I had at least a console and $100, I'd've been there.

Fökai 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2004 As nogoodnick and I will attest to... 1. The pre-order line was insane (one mall, two stores, FIVE HUNDRED PEOPLE.) 2. This game is a must-buy for X-Box users. If you don't have an X-Box, buy that too.

Me, my brother, and friend just walked into Wal-Mart, and picked up copies with ease. Literally nobody there.

El Psycho Diablo 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2004 Me, my brother, and friend just walked into Wal-Mart, and picked up copies with ease. Literally nobody there. HA. Very, very smart indeed. ...and considering the EB right across the street had all but two (normal) editions out of 90 LE and 90 regular preordered, and the Gamestop just down the way was packed, too.. Kind of strange, that nobody else had that idea.. *edit* Actually, some commentary about the LE itself. I haven't watched the extras disc yet, but the packaging itself is easily the best videogame metal case I've ever seen. It's sturdy, a simple design..no text plastered all over the place. Good looking overall, with a picture of the Chief on the back. Just general stuff (no level spoilers, or anything), but spoiler text in case.. The Covenant Particle Beam Rifle is awesome, as well as the Human Battle Rifle. The LE manual, written from the Covie perspective, is FUCKING AWESOME. (Covenant weapons are listed under "Noble Tools of Conquest", while Human ones are "Primitive Impliments of War".) The AI driving the vehicles..even stealing Ghosts from the Elites, is a blast to watch..as is stealing those Ghosts yourself! Taking weapons away from other soldiers is nice (Sniper Rifles, and such), as are the comments they make about you, and your enemies. I didn't see the problems edotherocket had at all.. Must sleep now, but I'll have to get some more playtime in later.. Then consider going online with it.. <- is Sopa de Gato on Live.

Karnage 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2004 I got my copy of the Limited Edition on my lunch break, played a litte multiplayer, it's amazing so far. Only thing that bothers me though is inside the awesome tin case, they stack the game disc on top of the bonus disc.
chirs3 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2004 So far, the Single Player campaign disappoints me. It's not bad or anything, it's just the first four levels have shown almost no improvement over Halo, and a few scenes that really should've been "Holy crap! That's fucking awesome!" scenes... well... haven't been. Two that immediately jump to mind are the scene where you jump off the bridge into The Scarab to kill its crew and the level where you take a tank across the Covenant-held bridge. I got the impression from previews that these were OMGWTFWWJD AWESOMEZ!!11!!11! kind of scenes, and they really just felt run of the mill. I say almost no improvement... I really like the new Drone enemies - they make fights so much more hectic (in a good way). I also like the new UNSC weapons, especially the SMG. And the story. Only four missions in, so I don't know too much, but at least I can say it's not predictable. It's not exactly going in the direction I'd hoped it was, but still, it's interesting thus far. I'm sure the multi-player is superiffic, but I can't take my X-Box online at the moment.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2004 I played at my friends house today. After I got done whipping his ass in multiplayer I moved onto the single player campaign and had a blast. I was good....I mean GOOD at Halo. One time it was me, 2 girls that had never played, and a sucky girl against 4 good players in team deathmatch. Final Tally: My team(except me): 4 Me: 38 The other team won b/c I can't do it alone. Me and my friend Chris are good. We once did us against everyone and whipped everyone's ass. So I hope my skill transfers into Halo 2.

I can't believe they actually portrayed excessive videogaming in a positive light - they were almost encouraging introverted independence.
Anya 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2004 I got it last midnight and have already beaten it. The single player campaign is ok. I agree with Chris though, some of the huge scenes just kind of fall flat. They're not bad, but they're not really spectacular either. The ending is a huge downer. Scroby 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2004 Since I had to deal with the hectic selling of the Halo 2 last night. I'll tell you guys how my point of view was. We had a tournament last night over at Gamecrazy with about 30 or more people all playing Halo. After that ended at 11 PM (started at 10), everyone started lineing up. We had two lines, one going out the door the other going out into hollywood video. We stayed open for an hour (12 to 1 am) selling Halo 2 and we sold 84 copies, in an hour. Then after I line died with 10 minutes before we closed, I got my copy, closed, and went home and played it. The single player is decent, I've said awesome a few times but thats really only the cutscense happen, that and when the new chapter titles come up, they make me laugh. Xbox live is great, make your own Halo 2 clan, you and a few friends can make a party and join some random game. Press the white button and you only talk to your team mates, if someone is close and they talk you can tell how close they are to you, if their far away and they talk, they sound really distant. I think my only complint so far is not so many ways to customize your own emblems when it comes to makeing your player. Yeah you get to choose the colors and if you wanna be a Spartan or Elite, but to me the emblems are just limited because you can't really make your own. But there are a lot of them. Do you guys think all the hype was worth it or just a waste of time? To me, worth it.
Guest PlatinumBoy Report post Posted November 10, 2004 I just played to 15 kills with two of my roomates in Ivory Tower. I won 15 kills to 2 to 1. I only got killed once. How? I lurked in the shadows with the energy blade and followed people around and was generally sneaky and would then pop out with a nice slash. If they found me, I'd just hide and force them near me with frag grenades and then either get them with a sticky or be next to the door or whatnot and slash them. The cutscenes are VERY buggy (people will just appear out of nowhere a lot) --- fortunately, the graphical glitches seem to ONLY be in the cutscenes. Oh, and I could not conceivably suck harder in multiplayer. -=Mike
