The next Amazing Race is only a couple weeks away!

...

And, it will be fouled up with Amber and Rob from Survivor, but at least I'll have a team to root against..

Never understood the Boston Rob hate, but Amber will drag him down...

The winners will be on the CBS morning show tomorrow. During the last AR all 3 finalists were on the show, and that's when that guy asked his girlfriend to marry him (shit, they were my favourite team and I can't even remember their name right now; Christie and someone), so expect all 3 or 4 finalists to be on the show tomorrow too.

Hayden and the guy getting married was really heartfelt and sweet, but by the end of the show there was just so much loving in the speeches, it was so cheesy.

You talking about Colin and Christie, art?

Bah, so disappointing to see Kendra win. I was cheering for Rebecca and her girlfriend, but they were so far behind. I'm surprised Aaron wanted to marry Hayden after she went crazy bitchy. And now Rebecca can dump Adam, and hook up with me. Hooray.

The teaser for the next race was pretty good. Crazy flipping guy, fat guy getting hugged by impoverished children, POW, Rob and Amber. And those cute blondes. Looking solid.

I don't watch Survivor, can someone bring me up to speed on who the two participants are?

OK, this assumes that you have a basic idea of how Survivor works. If not, here it is in a nutshell:

- Two (or three) tribes start out

- They participate in reward and immunity challenges

- The tribe that loses the immunity challenge must vote a member off

- The tribes merge when there are 10 contestants left

- At this point reward and immunity challenges are individual, with individuals voted off becoming the "jury" who determine which of the final 2 will win the million dollars.

"Boston" Rob Mariano was on the 4th edition of Survivor (and All-Stars as well), where he was also known as "The Robfather" and was the de Facto leader of his tribe, until he was voted off after the two tribes merged. But being the shit disturber that he is, he set the wheels in motion for an "overthrow" of the main alliance in the game.

In Survivor All Stars (also known as ASS) he made it to the final two contestants, due to a combination of strategy, challenge-winning ability and backstabbing (aka "playing the game", since it IS an integral part of the game). He lost mainly because his backstabbing caused some bitterness among the jury, even those who played with the EXACT SAME STRATEGY as Rob. Who'd he lose to? Well, it's his Race partner...

Amber Brkich. She's from Beaver, PA (seriously), and was originally on the second Survivor, where she did absolutely nothing notable. But she did get her own spread in Stuff Magazine (which she did for free).

Heading into ASS (where she was in as an alternate for Elizabeth Hasselback) she entered into an alliance with Boston Rob where she did... nothing of note. Or maybe not - she allegedly played good cop to Rob's bad cop, but damned if I can remember a whole lot that she did. Over the course of the show, they bonded very nicely - because nothing tests a relationship like getting stuck on a tropical island where you don't eat a lot, don't shave and probably smell really bad.

Anyways, Rob took her all the way to the final 2, and proposed to her before the results were announced on a live broadcast. She accepted, and then won a million dollars because she wasn't Rob.

Long story short - Rob is probably well suited to TAR, Amber is likely not. And if the Roadblock restrictions are still in place, she'll have to work hard to pull her weight.

Looking at the photos for the next Race, it looks like they've hit many of their cliche teams. We've got an Alpha Male team, the Token Old Couple, the Exes, an engaged couple (Romber), a Mother-Son team, a Token Black team, a gay couple (where I can't tell who's the pitcher and who's the catcher), a Big Guy team, a dating couple (the POW guy and his beauty queen gf), and a Hot Chick team. The only one that doesn't fit an existing Race cliche are the hippie chicks (who I already don't like).

BTW, did anyone hear about TAR8 being teams of FOUR? That's gonna make some travel agents VERY happy...

Wow...no taxis on this Race. How can you fit seven people in one cab? I'm guessing tons of self-driving with luxury SUVs.

The airport's going to get more interesting as well...booking for four was bad enough, but how many flights are going to have six-person blocks just lying around?

A few notes from the Racers' appearance on The Early Show yesterday. Some have already been mentioned.

Near the end of the 1st hour, Freddy & Kendra had an interview segment. A series of clips of their "lowlights" was shown, including Kendra's infamous comments about the poverty (in Senegal, I believe), and how the people keep breeding. She said she was heartbroken about how bad the conditions were. Regarding her troubles with the Chicago pizza, she and Freddy said they'd been so used to living on airline food and power bars that it was hard to stomach. She said she thought it was a "trick pizza", because she took three bites, and more or less felt it expand in her stomach.

At the start of the 2nd hour, the final 4 teams were outside with the weather guy. He took Adam aside and cut off his hair horns. Later on, the weather guy appeared again, and had put his own hair in horns.

All 4 teams were in the studio later, where Phil eventually presented the cheque to Freddy & Kendra. A few updates and notes:

- Freddy & Kendra will be married in the spring.

- Kris, who used to live in California, moved to Scottsdale, AZ, to be with Jon.

- Adam & Rebecca joked that they're now engaged as well.

- Hayden & Aaron are still engaged, and were planning to get married in December this year, but Aaron is going to an intensive culinary school, so they're waiting until December '06.

- Kris & Jon are the kissiest couple in the show's history, with 3,557 kisses.

- The season after next will have 4 family members as teams.

- Adam & Rebecca are now engaged.

I thought Rebecca was joking/being sarcastic.

Yes, that was a joke. Rebecca felt left out of all the loving and living together and such...

Apparently the pizza at Gino's East is a deep dish where the sauce is layered on top of the cheese, and the sauce is quite chunky. I dunno if it's difficult to eat, but I'd like to try...
