Guest Chasing Dogma

Hey guys.

Having not seen ROH in a long time (Since Stage 2). I’m thinking of getting a comp knocked up, yet I’m unsure on what matches to get put on it, Part of me is thinking things like

Generation Next

Samoa Joe Vs Homicide

World Title Classic

Samoa Joe vs. CM Punk (ROH World Title Match)

Survival of the fittest

Homicide vs. Jay Briscoe

American Dragon Bryan Danielson vs. Jack Evans

Bryan Danielson vs. Austin Aries vs. Samoa Joe vs. Mark Briscoe vs. Homicide vs. Colt Cabana. (Survival of the Fittest Elimination Match)

Completion

Pure Title Qualifier Winner #1 vs. Pure Title Qualifier Winner #2 (For The Vacant ROH Pure Title)

Samoa Joe & The Briscoes vs. Homicide & The Havana PitBulls.

DHBD

Alex Shelley Vs Doug Williams

Samoa Joe vs. Homicide (ROH World Title Match)

CM Punk & Colt Cabana vs. The Briscoe Brothers (ROH Tag Team Title Match- 2 out of 3 Falls)

DBDH p2

Doug Williams Vs Ausin Aries

Samoa Joe vs. Colt Cabana (ROH World Title Match

CM Punk & Ace Steel vs. Dan Maff & BJ Whitmer (Street Fight)

Testing the limit

Jay & Mark Briscoe vs. Low Ki & Homicide

CM Punk & Colt Cabana vs. Ricky Reyes & Rocky Romero (ROH Tag Team Title Match)

Austin Aries vs. Bryan Danielson (2 Out of 3 Falls Match)

But I figure you guys are probably better than me at doing this, so I’d appreciate it if you could help me out on making a decent list of what’s worth seeing.

Thanks guys

Here are a few I'll throw out there.......there is more stuff, but I'll post recent stuff that I've seen.

CM Punk & Colt Cabana vs. Ricky Reyes & Rocky Romero (ROH Tag Team Title Match) - Testing the Limit

Austin Aries vs. Bryan Danielson (2 Out Of 3 Falls Match) - Testing the Limit

NOTE:Although this match IS a good one, you might wanna leave it off the comp you try and get for the simple fact that it IS 75 minutes long therefore taking up a great deal of space.

Samoa Joe vs. Ricky Reyes (Non Title Match) - RRIII

-If you are going to worry about any of the matches from Round Robin 3, this is one that you should put on there. This match is stiff as hell and makes for a really fun match. I was more impressed with this match than most of the RR3 tag matches to boot.

Spanky vs. Homicide - RRIII

-At first watch, I didn't like this match at all. Then after talking with plenty of people that would argue me almost to death about it, I figured I would give it a second chance. WOW, was I happy I did that. One of ROH's best matches of the year, and one of Spanky's best performances that I have seen up to this point.

Briscoe Brothers vs. CM Punk & Colt Cabana (ROH Tag Team Title Match) - RRIII

-The final match of RRIII and IMO was probably the best tag match of the show.

Generation Next (Aries, Shelley, Strong, & Evans) vs. The Briscoe Brothers, John Walters, & Jimmy Rave - Generation Next

-Solid 8 man tag.........

Samoa Joe vs. Homicide (ROH World Title Match- There Must Be A Winner) - Generation Next

-One of their better meetings IMO.

Samoa Joe vs. CM Punk (ROH World Title Match) - IMO, ROH's MOTY.....so far. At least from what I've seen (the match I'm thinking could be better would be the 10/2 Joe/Danielson match)

Main Event Spectacles : SAT v Backseat Boyz v Teddy Hart/Jack Evans v Special K v The Carnage Crew ( Scramble Cage ),

That match was the most offensive match I've ever seen live.

It was the epitome of dumb indy wrestling with a million guys doing a million stupid dives which made all of them mean absolutely nothing in the end. The *only* thing I remember is Teddy Hart making an ass of himself and thats after several other guys did stupid jumps off the top of a cage.

It certainly warrants a viewing from a first time fan.

It's a crazy spotfest, and the best scramble match IMO.

You didn't watch hard enough then.

The second scramble cage had a story, but was really a mess in terms of structure. The third was the epitome of "throwing guys in a cage and having them do spots." The first scramble cage, while not really anything special, was NOT "a million guys doing a million dives which made them mean nothing in the end."

There were FOUR dives in the match. That really isn't a lot at all considering the circumstances. If you do much less than that, you run the risk of falling into the trap of "Why even run the match in the first place?" If you do more, it kills the impact of the dives. Four is not an extreme amount. There was the Evans-Hart Hurricanrana (which Iis the one spot I really didn't like because it didn't make sense), Evans dive to the outside, Teddy's dive to the outside, and the Spanish Fly.

There was the story of the Carnage Crew taking their belts off and whipping Special K as a matter of revenge for Special K whipping the Canrage Crew belts weeks earlier. Evans worked an injury to keep him and Teddy out of the cage for most of the match, thus clearing some clutter from the cage. Teddy and Jack stayed down after the hurricanrana spot for a while. Hydro was done with any and all offense after taking the Spanish Fly and they SAT were even done, selling the impact the move had on them. With the exception of Teddy being stupid post match, he and Jack stayed down after their big dives to the outside. For the most part, there was proper selling.

I am not saying this match is great or anything, but is far from how you describe it. I could name 50 matches from the Indies (and TNA) this year that were more "dumb indy wrestling with a million guys doing a million stupid dives which made all of them mean absolutely nothing in the end" than this match was.

The Joe/Briscoe Cage Match from the March 2004 show, as well as the scramble Cage match from the same event. I was there ringside for that show and it was insane. I will never forget seeing a piledriver off the top of a steel cage through 2 tables. :o
