...and...

Maybe there's something I'm not remembering, so why should I be upset over a sequel to some movie called The Sandlot?

What?

How could they possible dig up a sequel to this? The ending wrapped up everything in a neat little package, what's the point?

I remember that there was a movie called "The Sandlot", but I never saw it, as far I can recall.

It's about a group of boys who spent their days playing baseball in an old sandlot in the 1950s. There are a lot of great characters. Basically, the main character 'borrows' a Babe Ruth auto from his stepdad (played by Denis Leary) after they run out of balls for the day. It gets hit over the fence for a homerun, where it is guarded by the Beast. A huge dog that everyone is deathly afraid of. Of course, they try a ton of creative ideas to get the ball back and eventually the dog chases Benny "The Jet" Rodriguez (the best player) all through town while he wears his brand new PF Flyers.

10/10 movie.

I have read the script and I found it nice and satisfying as a sequel to a great first movie. It takes place ten years later, in 1972. It stars a whole group of new kids and there is only one who has any connection to the original Sandlot kids. This boy is Johnnie Smalls, who is Scotty Smalls' brother. I will not disclose any major plot details, in case the producers are trying to keep as much as possible under wraps. Five boys hesitantly decide to let three girls join their baseball team, in order for them to beat a rival little league team. When one of the female teammates' father's model space shuttle goes missing on the other side of the fence, into Mr. Mertle's backyard, the Sandlot kids try different ways to get it back. It was well written and pays homage to the original.

Wait a second Mr.Mertle was friends with Smalls and the Jet by the end of the movie and Hercules the dog was the Sandlot Mascot. The dog might have died, but did something happen in those 10 years that pissed Mertle off?

He's blind.Smalls did seem kind of fruity though. Maybe he didn't mind.

Wonder how much name dropping this movie will have? Benny this, Squints that, fat kid that? Oh, and at least one originial should of died in Vietnam. Preferably Smalls.

Crapssake, I'm sure it'll be straight to video. You think any kids' live movie survives with dignity? Look at the crazy Bud series. Not that I thought it ever had dignity in the first place.

I loved The Sandlot and I'm completely against this sequel.

Seriously, what else can they do with the story?
