Damaramu 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2004 These announcers are enough to make me sick. They sound like they're going to jump out of their seats and celebrate everytime Auburn scores. And they sounded like someone had killed there dogs during the first half when Alabama was dominating. It's called SEC commentators cheering for the greater good of the conference and having a member of the conference potentially play for the national title. Well right now it's looking pretty slim for Auburn to get into this game if OU wins out.
Hogan Made Wrestling 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2004 BYU picked off Alex Smith for only the 3rd time this season while Utah was driving, and just punched it in to tie the score at 14-14. This game looks like it could be interesting.

It'll be Utah/OU in the Fiesta. No if OU maintains it's #1 computer ranking they won't pull ahead. I think the Orange Bowl is pretty much a lock now between OU/USC unless one of them loses just b/c OU's too far ahead and unless Auburn gets a huge lead in the human polls which the won't get they're remaining at #3 in the BCS. And Trev Alberts going on about how much character and BS it showed for Auburn to fight back on the road made me sick. He was all over OU's case for playing A&M close on the road when A&M is a better team than Alabama and it's a tougher place to play! There is such an obvious bias from Alberts it is not even funny. Anyways who plays in the Fiesta bowl against Utah since OU is going to the Orange?

cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2004 What a shock! Chris Rix with the interception! I've been figuring this up, the possible BCS games. Wanna know what I've figured? Utah is still fucked. Yes, you heard me, they are fucked up the ass. Consider a few things in regards to the major bowls (Orange, Sugar, Rose, Fiesta): --Orange Bowl is likely going to be Oklahoma vs. USC. Unless one of the two loses, and even then they'll still likely end up somewhere in the BCS. --Rose Bowl will obviously want the Big Ten/Pac 10 matchup with Michigan (I assume?) vs. Cal (at #4 in the BCS with the one loss to USC by 6, how can they be denied?). Sugar Bowl likely will put Auburn vs. somebody from the ACC (Miami, Va Tech, who knows?). That leaves the Fiesta, which will have to take the Big East winner (BC most likely) vs. someone else. Guess what? If Texas beats A & M they will likely remain #5 in the BCS and take that last spot. Thus Utah is likely still fucked. Which is good, since they'll play U of L and I wanna see that one bad.
Bored 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2004 cabbage, I made the same mistake last week. The rules of the BCS state that if a team in a non-BCS coference is in the Top 6 they are automatically in the BCS. Utah is locked into a BCS berth now as obviously no one is jumping them with Michigan and Florida State both losing. To play devil's advocate, if I were Texas I'd be pissed. They are ranked higher than Utah after all so technically speaking they deserve to be in a BCS bowl more than the Utes. Not that I would want that. The main problem is the Big East should have had it's automatic berth stripped before this season. No one in that conference is deserving of a BCS bowl. I'm Bored so I'm going to do some bowl projecting since I already did the Big Ten earlier and some invites will probably be handed out this week. A few things I still think the Gator Bowl doesn't pass on the opportunity to take Notre Dame even though they will likely end the season at only 6-5. Also I'm going to assume that the Liberty Bowl uses it's now open spot to take Boise State. There will be several open bids this year so I'm really just taking wild guesses on some of these. New Orelans: North Texas vs. Cincinnati Tangerine: Virginia vs. Nebraska GMAC: UAB vs. Toledo Ft. Worth: Iowa State vs. TCU Las Vegas: New Mexico vs. Southern Miss Hawaii: Memphis vs. UTEP Humanitarian: Fresno State vs. Clemson Motor City: Minnesota vs. Miami of Ohio Independence: Colorado vs. Navy Insight: Oregon State vs. West Virginia Alamo: Ohio State vs. Oklahoma State Houston: Texas Tech vs. Alabama Continental Tire: North Carolina vs. Pittsburgh Holiday: Texas A&M vs. Arizona State San Francisco: Wyoming vs. Georgia Tech Silicon Valley: Connecticut vs. Bowling Green Liberty: Louisville vs. Boise State Music City: Northwestern vs. South Carolina Peach: Virginia Tech vs. Florida Sun: Purdue vs. UCLA Outback: Wisconsin vs. Georgia Cotton: Texas vs. LSU Gator: Florida State vs. Notre Dame Capital One: Tennessee vs. Iowa Rose: California vs. Michigan Fiesta: Utah vs. Boston College Sugar: Auburn vs. Miami Orange: USC vs. Oklahoma

You've already admitted to having a bias against OU AND read Ivan Maisel's article. He makes a very convincing argument for why EVERYONE should be in that game. And OU isn't the least deserving by any means based off the fact they played the toughest schedule of the 3 teams(yes they did they had tougher road games and there opponents combined record is the best). Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2004 Dama, you forget that Alabama/Auburn is one of those games where you throw the schedules and stats out the window, because it's a motherfucking blood feud of a rivalry.

That's what they say about every rivalry. Let's be real, Alabama is an average to below average team. I don't give a shit about any kind of rivalry.
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2004 Do you live in a region of the country where people will literally not talk to their families that support the rival team for the week of the game.

iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2004 Auburn/Alabama is the most heated rivalry in the country. Oklahoma State is (most years) the third-most heated rivalry on OU's schedule. I think I see a little bit of a difference there. By the way, since I haven't posted it yet. The Cougars finally won the fucking Apple Cup! The seven year wait's over. We may be shitty, but at least we're not as shitty on UW.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2004 Did UW win a conference game all season? Auburn/Alabama isn't the most heated rivalry in the country. Michigan/OSU is.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2004 And by this point OSU is OU's top rival b/c they're the only rival that can actually stand toe to toe with OU.
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2004 Also, OU's given shit because even though it was close, it's the third most impressive win on their schedule. It doesn't actively hurt their reputation, but it's also not enough to help them out and show them to be a top 2 team.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2004 But combine that with everything else they've done with the rest of the season and you have a case for why they deserve to be in the National Title game. And at this point it looks like they're(rightfully so) gonna play for that title.

iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2004 Well in collegefootballnews.com's newest bowl projections, they still have Auburn playing USC for the title. They say that Baylor and Iowa State are gonna hurt Oklahoma's SOS enough that they'll drop dramatically in the computer rankings. However, I wouldn't give them too much credence since they also said that BC won't make a BCS bowl if they're out of the top 12 which is patently false, as confirmed by the official BCS website.
