Mascots are probably a notch or two below economic prosperity and dying Native languages really. It's quite an important issue around Indian country.

You can't get rid of Indian names. I'd be fine with the Redskins wearing the spear helmets full time and replacing the Indian head, but not because I'm sensitive to the plight of the Indians, I just think the spear looks cooler.

I do find it funny when the PC anti-Native American mascot crowd lumps in the likes of the Illini and Seminoles, whose nations cooperate with their universities to present an accurate image of their nation

Yeah, I don't think most Native American names are offensive, and I'm partly Native American. (Not small partly, my dad and I qualify as minorities). Redskins, I can see, but I don't think Seminoles, Braves, Illini, etc. are that bad. It's not like the name is TRYING to taunt us or anything, it's just paying respect. Right?
