Tawren Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 I have a really fun Best of OVW DVD put out by Wrestling Gold. Production values are solid, not fantastic but good. Lots of Rico/Dinsmore/Damaja goodness. If you are going by production values, I'd say that it is the Wrestling Gold or XPW DVD's. ROH is also up there. I haven't seen any of the CZW or 3PW DVD's, though.
Guest The Shadow Behind You Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 I only get ROH and WWE DVD's so, ROH is the default winner. I dont care much for the techical aspects. I just want the content. But I don't like the Techno Music they always use for the Main Menu.
razazteca Posted November 23, 2004 Author Report Posted November 23, 2004 How good is the SMW edition of Wrestling Gold?
Tawren Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 The Wrestling Gold/SMW DVD I have is "Night of Legends", so if we are talking of the same DVD it is really good. There is a great Thrillseekers vs Heavenly Bodies match, plus lots of other good southern style wrestling. Highly recommended. If you are asking about the Wrestling Gold "Before they were Superstars", which has lots of SMW footage if I've heard correctly, then I don't know because I don't have that yet. Hoping to get it soon, though.
Guest SoCalTF Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 Personally, my favorite national indy DVD has to be the M-Dogg and Josh Prohibition one that came out last year. Awesome stuff with tons of great stuff.
razazteca Posted November 23, 2004 Author Report Posted November 23, 2004 How many of the indy companys suffer from bad production values? I noticed that UPW has poor lighting, subpar camera work, among other issues including very bad announcing. During the Juvi match on the Future Shock dvd there was a "camera 6 worse case scenario" with it going blank. Is that M-Dogg and Josh Prohibition one a backyard wrestling video?
Guest Real F'n Show Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 Is that M-Dogg and Josh Prohibition one a backyard wrestling video? Yeah. I rented it earlier this year, it's an okay look at how they became pro wrestlers, plus some Jackass-type stuff thrown in for shits and giggles. I usually only buy WWE DVDs in stores, indy ones off the net, with the exception being a 3PW DVD i got for $4.99 once. Needless to say, it sucked and I gave it to my borther.
LucharesuFan619 Posted November 24, 2004 Report Posted November 24, 2004 The M-Dogg and J-Pro Passion for Pain backyard DVD is great.
SamoaRowe Posted November 25, 2004 Report Posted November 25, 2004 If the CZW dvds had more on them, they'd be a stronger contender against ROH. But then again, ROH just screams quality.
razazteca Posted November 25, 2004 Author Report Posted November 25, 2004 Should I excited about the Fleish vs Storm match on the CZW dvd?
SamoaRowe Posted November 25, 2004 Report Posted November 25, 2004 Should I excited about the Fleish vs Storm match on the CZW dvd? Yeah, it's pretty good I also really liked the Sonjay Dutt/Chris Cash match.
Guest bort Posted November 26, 2004 Report Posted November 26, 2004 The J-Pro M dogg DVD was pretty solid, party box was a skit fit for TV. anyone ever see the Best of Jarret, Austin, Cactus boxset...Its only 20 bucks but i was iffy on buying it due to its potential crappyness
Guest Markingout Posted November 26, 2004 Report Posted November 26, 2004 If the CZW dvds had more on them, they'd be a stronger contender against ROH. But then again, ROH just screams quality. CZW wishes it can top ROH. 2004 is the year of ROH with out a doubt. Anyways, the Storm vs Fleisch from BOTB2 was really fun, where they had some awesome chains, and they really didn't botch anything. If you enjoy the fast paced typical indy worker style, you'll love this.
