New NaS album: Streets Disciple

Recommended Posts

Yeah, there are only a handful of duds, which, for a double album, isn't bad at all.

There's an air of finality over the album; getting married, reflecting back on life, envisioning his death (by old age, no less!)...I wonder where Nas goes from here. Streets Disciple feels like a genuine goodbye (whether or not Nas intended it), much more so than, say, The Black Album.

Speaking of album of the year, you're right, as far as hip hop albums anyway. It might have given Thug Matrimony a run if it was trimmed a bit.

Ok I finished the ablum and here are my thoughts. Had Nas edited out a few weak songs and put it to one disc, this would've been a classic. "These Are Our Heroes", "Just a Moment" and "Getting Married" are all up there with Nas' best work and even the weak tracks aren't necessarily bad.

Really solid album and, depending on replay value, maybe his second best ever.

BTW Royce is good but for underground artists, no one touches Immortal Technique IMO.

I've been mentioning Royce for the longest on this board and people tend to ignore me, but its good that some of ya'll dig Royce. As for the Nas album I would give it a 4.5 Mics and I think the Disc 1 is better than Disc 2 because Disc 2 has more filler than 1.

Immortal Technique flows about as well as I do and is basically a one-trick pony as far as lyricism goes (You Never Know notwithstanding). He's not necessarily bad, but MF Doom smokes Technique. As do a dozen others.
