Not only is AD leading this poll but he's leading the fan poll on ESPN.com.

But ya know we have no say in the end...

I dont understand why Hart doesnt get as much Heisman pub considering he didnt even play the first few games. Without him Michigan does not beat Purdue or Michigan State

Because:

1. Michigan lost to Ohio State, and Hart didn't perform well.

2. Michigan is not ranked as highly as the teams of Peterson, Benson, and Arrington (just listing running backs), and they have put up better numbers over more games.

Even as a huge fan of Big Blue, I can't list Hart as a serious Heisman contender while remaining objective. But in a couple of years, look out.

I understand that a lot of people DO put the ranking factor into their decision, but I really don't think rankings should matter. If you're the best player in college footbal, you shouldn't have to rely on the rest of your team to be in serious contention for the trophy.

Well it looks like Leinart has jumped out to the front in ESPN.com's poll.

Hopefully everyone doesn't decide race over and send in their ballots this weekend just b/c this is the last thing they saw. That'd be well......that'd be pretty crappy b/c OU didn't get a chance to showcase it's Heisman canidates as the last thing in everyone's minds.

Yeah I know that USC didn't play last week but the point I'm making is that all the voters are going to remember is what happened this past weekend and since Leinart was the only one playing and making his big statement game that'll be the first thing to go through their head when voting.

So I'm hoping those that felt burned after the Big XII title game last year will hold off until after this weekend.

Well they just showed the Heisman commercial on ESPN.com and if that commercial is right then White, Peterson, Leinart, and Bush are your only choices as they will be the 4 in NYC.

Well I guess we all kind of figured those would be the final 4.

They always have five finalist for the Heisman, not four. The commercial doesn't mean a single thing, and the finalists aren't announced until the ballots are in anyway.

Smith and/or Benson will likely be finalists, while Bush will probably be just short.

Well why did they only have four in NYC last year? White, Manning, Fitzgerald, and Perry were the only ones in NYC last year.

Does anyone think Benson even has a shot at the Heisman? Yeah I didn't think so.....remember Darren Sproles and Brad Smith? They were Heisman favorites to....hehehehe.

Benson's had to carry a much greater load than Adrian Peterson.

Yeah b/c Benson's QB can't throw it.

But it looks like according to oh......every poll I've read that Peterson will be a finalist over Benson.

I guess there were only four finalists last year. That's weird, as every other year, (or at least the five or ten I was around for), they had five finalists. I searched the web to try to find an article on why they changed it, but I came up empty.

Yeah I figured they'd just have 4 again this year.

Do you think Reggie Bush will be a finalist?

Or do you think it'll be Leinart, White, Peterson, and Benson if they only have 4?

If it's only four, I'd guess it's White, Peterson, Leinart, and Smith. Alex Smith has actually been getting quite a bit of hype in the media lately, and I think he'd get the spot over Bush or Benson.

Well, JJ Arrington carried the Bears again tonight. He had 261 yards on a night where Aaron Rodgers was relatively ineffective. If Cal does manage to sneak into the Rose Bowl, Arrington will be the reason why. Honestly, if the Heisman Trophy was based just on performance and not hype or number of nationally televised games, everybody would have already conceded the trophy to JJ Arrington.

Arrington's stats are just as impressive as Smith's if not more, as he's been averaging over 7 yards a carry. Then, when they're putting up comparable stats, the edge has to go to the guy who's done it against Pac-10 defenses all year over the guy who's been lighting up the Mountain West.

Who's to say that Alex Smith wouldn't have a Jason White in the Red River Shootout kind of performance if he had to face a truly great defense. I really think that for a mid-major guy to win it, he has to put up significantly better stats than the other competitors.

Jason White has a great game and sshows why he should get another Heisman UNFORTUNATELY those two INT's WERE NOT his fault b/c his recievers fucking fell down! However people are going to wake up and see only the stats and not the game and say "Oh well he threw 2 INTs! He's out!"

And Peterson.....THAT WAS SICK! He broke 5 tackles and drug another guy with him! The guy fucking drags people with him! Is he the NCAA's leading rusher this year?

I'm still thinking about that run where Peterson broke like 5 or 6 tackles. The guy is so awesome b/c if he can't outrun he just runs straight at you and knocks you over. Remember the Red River shootout where he dove over like 3 guys for 10 more yards? Or where he just ran straight into the safety and took him down to?

The guy is pure power.

So now who wins it?

I think White's stats just got better than Leinart's and Peterson is the leading rusher in the country now isn't he?

To factor in Bush's day:

16 rushes, 204 yards, 2 TD's.

6 receptions for 73 yards.

2 KR's for 39 yards.

2 PR's for 15 yards.

Big plays:

65-yard rush two plays in to put USC up 7.

81-yard rush in 2nd quarter to go up 17-7.

Yes Bush had a big day but for some reason I feel that if anybody from USC gets it then it's going to be Leinart. I dunno why I don't see Bush getting it. He deserves it more than Leinart but I just can't see them giving it to Bush over Leinart.

I dunno if Peterson will repeat this without the offensive line....but he'll get damn close. A lot of it is the line and a lot of it is him. Then again anybody needs a halfway decent line to put up huge numbers. And OU's line will be decent next season....just not manhandling like it is this year.

Can Jason vote for himself? I mean, being a previous heisman winner he does get a vote, doesn't he?

Anyway, White/Peterson are both good picks, but I have to give mine to peterson after tonight, and that sick TD run you were talking about, Dama.

Is he the NCAA's leading rusher this year?

The leader rusher was Jamarrio Williams from North Texas.

Peterson finished 2 yards behind J.J. Arrington 1845-843 for total rushing yards.

Well, either Leinart or White will win it.

Reggie Bush SHOULD win it, because he's far and away the best player in the nation, IMO.
