Dama, all season I think I kept trying to tell you there was no way White was going to win another Heisman, no matter what he did. There was likely a sour taste with voters on the free fall he had last year after securing the Heisman votes, and it hurt him here. Besides, voters had one thing to think about: Did they really wanna give the most prestigious college football award TWICE to a guy who might not even make an NFL roster, or likely would be 3rd string if he did?

Funny thing is Mel Kiper is touting White as a second round draft pick and saying he'll ride the bench ala' Steve Young behind someone good and then come out and be a decent QB.

I don't really think he needs to go to the NFL. I'd love to see him on the OU coaching staff. The guy knows a hell of a lot about football as evidenced by what he does on the field.

There's not denying that he's a great QB. I'm still at a loss as to why Mel Kiper said he had great mobility on his side but a lack of arm strength when it's the other way around. The guy can throw the ball as far and accurate as anyone but can't run fast at all.

But yes I knew he wasn't going to win it based off of last year. Which was crap but he already has one and he's even stated he could care less about having another one. He wants a national title and that's all he cares about. He only came back this season to win the Big XII and win the NC. I mean he looked bored as hell during the awards on Thursday and tonight he was just kind of like "Eh....." I mean he didn't even look nervous when they were reading the winner like everyone else. Hell he even said "I'm not going to get it." He left himself off of his Heisman ballot! So I don't feel bad that he didn't win it.....b/c he doesn't give a damn.

Peterson though I'm happy for. I mean he finished 2nd. A freshman's never done that. That's great.

What about Reggie Bush finishing last? Ouch.

Oh and I'll still point to the White/Leinart hug. That was weird just b/c Leinart I don't think hugged any of the other finalists. I've heard somewhere that there's a weird friendship there whenever they're together.

All in all I have no problem with Leinart winning it. I wouldn't have had a problem with ANY of them winning it. So I just kind of say "Meh" and move onto the Orange Bowl.

The only thing that angers me, and it just slightly annoys me, is what Carson Palmer said and his whole attitude about it.

Really? Is that why he said about 100 times "I know I'm not going to win it. I don't care about winning it. I'm back for a Big XII title and a National Title." Just b/c you guys want him to be upset over it doesn't mean he is.

Hell he already won the damn thing. It's not like he's going to be spurned from all the festivities. The guy got to vote this year. He said he voted Leinart second and left himself off. There's a dinner on Monday for the new winner and all the former winners get to come. White will be there hanging out. So I don't think he really cares.

Hell they're reporting on ESPN.com that he was telling Leinart to prepare his acceptance speech before the show started.

I dunno. White and Leinart are both kind of similar in that neither of them is really a pretty boy. They're both kind of tough looking and grungy and both are damn good. So that makes the Orange Bowl so much better.

Oh and does everyone think Leinart bolts for the NFL or hangs around? I say he runs and becomes a first round draft pick. Hell even if the Trojans lose the title game(which they will :)) he's still got a good enough work ethic and enough talent to impress everyone at the combine.

Just wondering but is there really a QB in this year's draft that will be a surefire 1st round pick? I can't think of anyone that jumps out.

Frankly, the Heisman ballot has just become a popularity contest for the guys on the best teams. It lost all credibility to me when Charles Woodson won it over Manning in 1997. The guy parlayed half a dozen nice plays into winning the Heisman. Given Manning's recent run that voting looks even more idiotic than it was at the time.

Kyle Orton is, I've heard Charlie Frye from Akron could be a first rounder, and Matt Leinart.

Well they were saying Leinart could be a first rounder if he comes out. Which he said this morning on one of the NFL pre-game shows that he was coming out.

Why do you keep talking about a fuckin' hug? Jesus, just go rape White in his dorm already.

He doesn't have a dorm, he has a pretty big house. My friend lives next door. :P

I just thought it was weird that Leinart and White were all buddy/buddy. I just didn't expect it.

They are probably friends. It's not too uncommon for "rivals" to be friends. Look at NFL where offensive players and defensive players sometimes help each other up from the ground while both are laughing and they're patting each other.

Aaron Rogers from Cal who is only a Junior is widely considered the Best NFL Prospect. San Fran. would seem like a perfect fit.

As for Manning. What he does in the NFL, has absolutley no bearing on whether or not he should of won the Heisman. As for Woodson only making 12 plays? What about his cover skills? the big tackles he made? He was primarily a CB on the best team, with the best defense in the country. The numbers obviously won't stand out.

Charles Woodsen absolutely deserved the Heisman that year. He was playing offense, defense and returning kicks. He was largely responsible for Michigan winning the National Title that year.

Why didn't Champ Bailey get into the running the final year he was in college? Never did understand that.

Can someone change Dama's screen name to Mark David Chapman?

He needs to practice stalking Rhett Bomar or whatever that freshmen QB's name is.

Well seems how I'm on the paper and get to go to the press conferences and get to be on the sidelines during games I shouldn't have any problem talking to any players.

On top of that I don't think he'll be the starting QB next season. I think that honor will go to Paul Thompson.

I find it funny that everyone complains about the reactions I have to OU and everyone is annoyed by it. But when OU doesn't win something and I express that I don't care and agree with the winner everyone starts making fun of me to try and get the rise out of me.

Don't you know? Defensive players don't win games and thus can't be the most outstanding player! Duh?

You know I was thinking. If Rodgers were to stay and Leinart were to come out then do you think that Cal would be favored to win the Pac 10 over USC? Or do you think USC would still be the team in that conference?

Cause Nebraska had already been selected for the National Title game and the only way to save face was to make the least deserving squad look even remotely appealing with the Heisman Trophy winner.

Course all it turned into was the Heisman Trophy winner getting punked out for the second straight season in a bowl game.

Here is a question:

Who was the last Heisman Trophy winner whose team went on to win the National Championship?

I decided to answer my own question because of a double post.

The last Heisman winner whose team won the National title?

Charles Woodson, 1997

So there you go Dama, some good news. The Heisman has been bad luck in a title game the last few years.

Jason White, crushed by LSU

Eric Crouch, crushed by Miami

Chris Weinke, slammed by Oklahoma.

I guess it was pretty obvious Leinart was gonna win. Everyone else had one knock on them that would make it hard for them to win. Peterson is a Frosh, Bush has ok stats and is a soph, White already won it, and Smith plays in the MWAC. Not that any of those factors mattered but the voters think they do. So I think it ended up being whose the easiest to pick and that was Leinart.

Without Leinart USC is still a top 3 team in the country. Last year he was neck and neck with that one guy before winning the job. With the great skill players they have out there its hard not to succeed.

As much as I hate to admit it Eric Crouch's stats were pretty good. I know he couldn't throw a football worth a damn but he was an option QB and excelled at it. I still don't think he shouldve won though.

Here's a knock on Leinart. He can't actually engineer a drive or move the offense at all. All he does is throw screens and wait for Reggie Bush to bust one loose, or else wait until he's got someone absolutely wide open over the top and then hit them with a deep ball.

If USC had their backup QB, they might be 10-1 or even 9-2, but if they didn't have Reggie Bush, they'd probably be 8-3 or more likely 7-4, and playing in the Sun Bowl.

You can give a knock on any of them. Hell I can think of obvious knocks on my own guys.

Like with Jason White you gotta ask yourself "Is it him or those recievers?" b/c he has one of the best recieving groups in the country. I mean I know a lot of it is him but he is helped by all of those recievers. Course if you ask him he'll claim it's all the recievers b/c he's one of those "I'm not very good, I'm just lucky to have who I have" kind of people.

And then with Peterson you have to wonder if it's him or the O-Line. I mean we can tell a lot of it is him(especially by that run against OSU where he looked to be down and spun out and broke it for 80 yards, and then the run against Colorado where he broke 6 tackles) and I guess we'll find out with Peterson next year when 3 of those O-Lineman including All-Americans Jammal Brown and Vince Carter graduate.

But yeah you can knock all of them.

Oh and 2GOLD I know about the Heisman curse that's why I said it's good for Sooner fans the Leinart won. Now maybe he'll underperform or get driven by Dan Cody. I still think he hasn't had a guy like Cody get there hands on him.

Here's the complete results of the Heisman voting:

...............................................1st......2nd.....3rd.....Total

Matt Leinart..........USC............267.....211.....102....1,325

Adrian Peterson....Oklahoma...154.....180.....175......997

Jason White..........Oklahoma...171.....149.....146......957

Alex Smith.............Utah.............98.....112.....117......635

Reggie Bush..........USC...........118...... 80...... 83......597

Cedric Benson......Texas...........12...... 41...... 69......187

Jason Campbell....Auburn.........21..... 24....... 51......162

J.J. Arrington.........California.....10...... 33...... 19......115

Aaron Rodgers.....California.......8...... 14...... 15...... 67

Braylon Edwards...Michigan.......3....... 13...... 27...... 62

Source: Associated Press

Only ten first-place votes for JJ Arrington, but at least he finished ahead of shitty Aaron Rodgers. Also, I'm kind of surprised Benson got so few votes; he wasn't even close to being a finalist.

By the way, does anyone else think it's incredibly annoying that you can't use multiple spaces on here. I mean what the fuck is the point of that anyway.

2 things...

J.J. Arrington averaged 6.8 yards per touch, Reggie Bush averaged 10.1 yards.

After winning his Heisman, USC QB Carson Palmer went 21/31 for 303 yards and 1 TD in a 38-17 victory over Iowa in the Orange Bowl.
