So bring predictions and thoughts...but please no bitching, "HHH goes over everyone", etc. Unique concepts (tag partners battle, maybe jobber offense on Flair/HHH etc. wanted. Anyway, the point made by the topic description is this, will Edge be involved in the battle royal? If so, his "bitter for not getting a title shot" gimmick would be effectively killed. I'm sure he'll somehow get "screwed" (like maybe he throws someone like Chris Jericho out and then Jericho pulls Edge out of the ring or something). I am sure HHH will end up winning...my prediction is that it comes down to Orton, Batista, and HHH. Orton and Batista will be battling it out while HHH is lying down in the middle of the ring. There's alot of characters Edge can play. We discovered a long time ago that "funny face" is no longer one of them, and we're quickly learning that "mentally unstable heel" is almost as bad. It will be between two people: A) Edge B) The last babyface to be eliminated, likely Jericho Jericho wins, by some screwy means (Benoit can cost Edge the match, thus Edge will be "robbed" of a title shot just like Benoit was last week. Altho it wasn't Edge's fault, but WWE Writers are fuckheads). HHH eliminates Jericho by bullshit happenings. Jericho then announces since he's the next GM, he and Hunter 1 on 1... that, or... And no, we don't need yet another obnoxious heel. Half the heel roster is that. If they are intent in keeping Edge's gimmick alive, just have him piss off Orton and Orton then says he's not in the battle royal. Hell, have Orton/Edge be the first hour main event. Randy Orton announces they need a "even" amount of people in the battle royal so they must have a match between two people to secure the final spot and it was a random drawing of Edge against...Maven. but stuff happens before the Qualifying match starts. Like a pregant woman's water breaking while she asks for a autograph from Edge a impromptu book signing orchestrated by Randy Orton whom we find out paid off a group of people to bug edge for about 20 minutes Trish asking for Edge help put on dress and have it laced with "comical" sexual inneuendo. then by the time the match starts, Edge thinks he is off to the match but Viscera "just happens" to slip on something and knocks down Edge in the process and edge flys into a box of stuff. EMT's "rush" to Edge in comic fashion and Orton arrives "Take him to the emergency room, I won't risk one of my guys getting hurt on my show". while edge protests that he's fine. Viscera gets up and throws edge onto a strecher and holds him down and wheels him into the ambulance while edge screams in anger. Maven wins by Default and Edge comes back 5 minutes before the match and Orton says he missed the cut and is not in the match. So Edge decides to take over commentary and cuts off Lawler's feed and threatens Ross enough that he shuts up for a while. Edge's charactor right now is the most interesting on Raw. One of the only reasons to watch the show. I'll never understand the Edge dislike some people have. Perhaps Edge is the last TRUE heel. Then you'd watch the rest of the match thinking who the champion would be instead of will Triple H lose. He did that a lot in ECW. Especially in 3-Way title matches. I've also noted that "no showing" makes no sense for a character obsessed with a title match, and injuring him would be rather moronic after you have a top face mock him for always being injured. I actually think Edge's in-ring work SUCKS but his character is pretty cool. He's gone from "Girls cheer for me, I call people dorks!" to "Girls hate me, now everyone calls ME a dork..." His music is lame, yet the lyrics are actually fitting, if you care to read 'em. Still, entrance and shitty in-ring work overshadow character, IMO. I would like Edge off TV forever, but that isn't going to happen. The positive he has is a pretty cool character. Ok, he's a heel. He's envious. He's bitter. There's a way to play bitter heel without going comically over the top with it. Undertaker did it before he started singing Aretha Franklin music. That's why some fans (yourself) are giving him shit. His character is, and to at least most who get it, this: - He is bitter that he's been around since '98 and "not gotten a title shot". - He's a goofball that relies on his past comedic elements to try to make himself feel better about himself (see Raw this Monday and backstage with Angle at SSeries). While being a dickhead, he still tries to act "cool", like a bully. - He doesn't care if you are a heel or a face, if you impeed his progress to the World Title, he'll attack you, physically and verbally. See: Kurt Angle, Shawn Michaels, Chris Benoit, and Christian. Basically, Edge is a depressed man who reacts violently because he feels so bad for himself. Chicks now don't dig him, backstage scrubs laugh at him, faces defeat him, even the heels don't like him. He's a "lone wolf". He's like James Van Der Beek's character in "The Rules of Attraction". No one gives a fuck about him, he used to get laid a lot, and now he's an angry prick. If the "internet smarts" hate him, then good, he's doing his job. No one should LIKE HIM.
