strummer Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 Summer of 1999 had some terrible WCW Nitro shows. I can't remember the exact date, but there was a Nitro from Boise, Idaho (IIRC) in the summer of 99 and EVERY SINGLE WRESTLER was over huge. It was the night Hogan returned to red and yellow and the crowd went apeshit. Raven was on some radio show right after this episode aired and said that all the reactions on that show had to be taken with a grain of salt, because Idado was a barren wrestling market at the time and would react to anything. It was an amazing show in the aspect that WCW didn't have a lot of over guys at that time and it was astonishing to see EVERYONE get a reaction.
Ed Wood Caulfield Posted December 21, 2004 Report Posted December 21, 2004 That was August 9, 1999, the same night Jericho debuted in the WWF. I remember that show very well. The best part of the show was when Hulk's son, Nick, gives him the red and yellow attire, and there was this dramatic moment where Hogan looks at the attire. It was supposed to be dramatic but I thought it was funny. And I think during that radio interview Raven did, he remarked that if he got the same entrance Jericho did, then he'd be more over as a result. Raven ended up being fired like a month later, IIRC.
Art Sandusky Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 Summer of 1999 had some terrible WCW Nitro shows. Summer of 1999 had some pretty awful everyone shows. I only wish WCW were still around in its 1997-2001 form just so I could laugh my ass off every week at the terrible, nonsensical shows. Insider references, wrestlers just appearing for no reason (Scott Hall at the mental institution comes to mind immediately), wanton political shit happening right in the middle of the ring, oh man. Total anarchy, I'd love it today. I didn't know nearly enough about or watch as much wrestling back then to appreciate it.
Fro Posted December 26, 2004 Report Posted December 26, 2004 I'd say NWO Nitro or Bischoff's Talk Show have to be the worst. NWO Nitro was the show in which the WWF gained a lot of ground in the ratings.
