We are much closer allies with the UK, US & Australia than we are with Western Europe. The difference is Iraq (other than the standard trade disputes).

I'm not saying we need a strong military, at least with the juggernaut known as the US next door. But I find it disgraceful that the government won't give them working equipment. We suffer more casualties in helicopter crashes and submarine fires than we ever do in actual combat. Even the NDP agrees on that, but the Liberals have only started doing something about it now.

We don't have a strong air force or a navy, but the army is pound for pound one of the best trained military we have in the world.

Why should we spend so much money into our military if we do not feel threaten against any other nation.

Though I have to say though, is most of our troops are spread thin across the world.

That's a damned good question. When was the last time there was any real threat to Canada that we would have needed a good military to handle?

And screw the cybernetic grizzlies. Just send in some polar bears. I mean, they'll hunt people for fun anyway, so it's not like they'd need lots of training.
