Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 Why is there a benefit show for him? whats wrong with him?
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 He has a back injury. Is it going to end his career?
Nevermortal Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 Yeah, pretty much. From what I hear, he can barely move, and I don't think he's left the hospital.
Guest The Last Free Voice Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 He has a back injury. Is it going to end his career? Hopefully.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 He has a back injury. Is it going to end his career? Hopefully. ....funny how did he get injured?
Nevermortal Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 He has a back injury. Is it going to end his career? Hopefully. Douche. Sabu has been god awful in the recent years and his match with Sandman on November to Remember '97 was the worst match ever, but I appreciate his dedication to the business and the tremendous amount of punishment he put himself through over the years. My favorite Sabu memory was him wrecking his jaw on the guardrail and letting Fonzie tape it up. Simply nuts.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 Before I got the internet, Sabu was the one wrestler I held in the highest regard because of his mystique. Seeing him on RAW several times in 96 and 97 blew my mind, I thought he was the bigtime. Plus I have a tape of Eliminators vs. RVD/Sabu matches somewhere. I used to watch it to death.
Guest BrokenWings Posted November 30, 2004 Report Posted November 30, 2004 There was a thread on this a couple of weeks back. http://forums.thesmartmarks.com/index.php?showtopic=63862 To copy what I had mentioned in that thread, the last I had heard, apparently he has several non-life threatening tumors on his back.
1234-5678 Posted November 30, 2004 Report Posted November 30, 2004 I read somewhere there were tumors in his back.
Guest jobsquad Posted November 30, 2004 Report Posted November 30, 2004 the sad thing was that he had gotten his carer(sp) back on track a few months before his back quit on him. His match with ruckus on the 3pw show a few months ago is on my list of favorit matches of the year.
1234-5678 Posted November 30, 2004 Report Posted November 30, 2004 Yeah and unfortunately I left the show before Sabu/Ruckus happened. Go figure.
Guest dreamer420 Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 That is a damn shame about Sabu. The guy may have not been the best wrestler in the business but he put in 110% everynight and I have a lot of respect for him because of his work ethic. Who else would tape up a blown knee or broke jaw just so the match could continue. If his wrestling career is truly over, that's a shame, but I hope he can have a relaxed pain free retirement. Although Sabu strikes me as the kind of guy who just wouldn't be able to actually retire.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 Sabu is one of the only wrestlers I've seen live. I went solely for him, and he didn't disappoint.
Guest netslob Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 i was re-watching this old ECW comp tape last night, and on it were the Sabu-Funk "Born to be Wired" match and the Sabu-Sandman "Stairway to Hell" match where he damn near snaps his jaw off on the guard rail, and i realized why i like Sabu. here's a guy who's completely willing and able to basically kill himself for my entertainment. and i respect him tremendously for it. yeah, i know, he "blows spots", he hasn't "meant shit since 19-dickety-9", he doesn't chain-wrestle or have an amatuer backround (that i'm aware of). his name isn't Flair, Benoit or Guerrero, so he shouldn't mean shit to the IWC. fuck that. i hope this benefit goes well and he gets the money he needs, and i hope he heals up enough where he can live a comfortable life. if he gets back in the ring, great, but if he retires, then good for him and i hope he enjoys it. he's more then earned it.
