Guest Cerebus Report post Posted December 3, 2004 I'm pissed that UConn not only doesn't have any ranked teams to play against in the next two weeks they don't even have anyone in their conference to play against!

Mik 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2004 So, what do all of you Kentucky fans have to say about UNC now? I guess you have something to be proud of... afterall, you did lead for 0:00 of the game. Go HEELS!
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2004 I'm pissed that UConn not only doesn't have any ranked teams to play against in the next two weeks they don't even have anyone in their conference to play against! Considering how they looked against Indiana today, they should just worry about each game as it comes. Conference play doesn't start until January.
Guest spidyfan77 Report post Posted December 4, 2004 Poor Indiana, they played well twice this week but just had insane opposition and lost both games to UNC and UConn by 7 and 5. They probably should have beat UConn today but couldn't hit a foul shot. You act like UK sucking today vs. UNC was a shock. Hell, with all the freshmen they have they're bound to get their asses kicked a few times this year. Another ass kicking will come two weeks from now when U of L beats them down. Although UNC led the whole game, there's just something about that team that is....shaky to me. As in, UK was terrible today but UNC still didn't really put them away. UK was still dicking around down only 7 late in the game. I don't see a killer instinct in Carolina and it could cost them in a tourney game.
Alro 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2004 So, what do all of you Kentucky fans have to say about UNC now? I guess you have something to be proud of... afterall, you did lead for 0:00 of the game. Go HEELS! After UK won their last four meetings, I figured the Tar Heels were due a win. I suspect UK will struggle against any top 10 team. They are too young right now. However, depending on how fast they grow and mature, they will be Final Four quality next year easily. Don't expect Louisville to "beat them down". I'm predicting the closest UK/UofL game in years. cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2004 I am going down to Union Co. to visit some die hard UK fans on the 18th. If U of L wins I get to rub their noses in it, but man if UK wins they'll give me all sorts of shit. Heh. UK better worry about IU though, they are due a win. IU has played pretty well in two losses. iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2004 I'm probably going to get a Top 25 in basketball too really soon, but in the meantime, here's the three teams who will get to the Final Four on talent and not upsets and a lucky draw.: 1. Georgia Tech- Still the most talented team in the country. Has tournament experience and will likely finish the job with a title this year. 2. Illinois- Executing perfectly early in the season, and is just destroying top teams, leading both Wake Forest and Gonzaga by 20 points. 3. Oklahoma State- Returns the nucleus of last year's Final Four team, and knows how to execute at the absolute top level on offense and defense, as shown by their dominant performance yesterday where they led WSU 58-12 at one point. Matt Young 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2004 It figures that as soon as I leave Illinois, the Illini get really good. I never much cared for them (Michigan fan here) but it would've been cool to see some good Illini/Wolverines action in Champaign. I went to Champaign every other weekend anyway. I'm very happy to see Wake Forest doing so well. I jumped on the Wake/Tim Duncan bandwagon when I started watching college ball in the mid-90's and I've stayed on as a fan ever since. I hope they fuck Duke up but good. I love Coach K, but I can't stand Duke. I wonder if UC-Riverside is playing anyone good this season. That's the school I'll probably end up going to and it's 5 miles from my house, so I could catch some games. I'm all excited about the season now. I've always preferred the NBA, but this year I am a lot more stoked for NCAA hoops for some reason.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2004 OSU/Syracuse going at it right now. #5 vs. #4. Neither team appear to be playing that well.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2004 Well it was a pretty close game throughout and then suddenly at the end OSU just went nuts and pulled away.

Dr. Tyler; Captain America 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2004 Yeah, Pitt trashed Memphis.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2004 Heh, that OSU/Cuse game was the bone vs. club borefest I thought Pitt/Memphis would be. Well that game was too but at least I saw Memphis get the shit kicked out of them, which is always nice. Memphis is AWFUL this year, if U of L dares to lose to that bunch I will wear a sack over my head. In regards to Pitt, I figured out their blueprint: Start out 15-0 via a crap non conf. schedule, get to the top 5, then whine when they get a 2 or 3 seed due to their bad OOC schedule. And then be gone after the Sweet 16. Seriously, Pitt eventually just runs into someone who can actually SCORE and it's problematic for them since often times they can't. Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2004 Well he was pimping OSU pretty hard. It was kind of weird. I had to go and check the local news and make sure Stillwater hadn't been transportred to North Carolina.

Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2004 This year, I'm almost convinced that scoring won't be a problem. Taft is a fucking force and Krauser is only getting better. I remember when OSU took Pitt out last year. I thought you were going to hang yourself. You said you wouldn't be excited about sports anymore or something like that. I take it you've forgiven Pitt for that loss.
Dr. Tyler; Captain America 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2004 Nah, I was pissed more because they played wretched that game. Of course I've forgiven my alma mater. They're my team, man; the Steelers sucked last year, but that doesn't mean I'm down on them when they're 11-1.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2004 Well from the way things are looking Oklahoma State is going to run through the entire East Coast.......again. So hope Pitt doesn't draw them again.
Dr. Tyler; Captain America 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2004 We'll see. Pitt's a better team this year, if that's possible; Taft is truly looking like a lottery pick and Krauser's even better. I'd be interested to see them face each other because you've got to beat the best to be in charge of that gay cliche.

So it'd be interesting that's for sure. But I'm just waiting for OSU and Kansas to hook it up.
Alro 0 Report post Posted December 16, 2004 Saturday is the big day for the state of Kentucky. It is the biggest rival game in college basketball: Kentucky vs. Louisville. Usually leading up to the big game, both sides are talking shit. That isn't the case this year. None of my friends or co-workers have been trashing UK and me and the one friend I have in Louisville that isn't a Card fan have kept quiet. Kentucky is nervous because they are young, have lost the last two games, and will be the visiting team. Louisville is nervous because they won't have a few of their players, leaving them short on the bench. This won't be a blowout game for either team. Adding fuel to the fire this year is UK's marketing firm just got a 10-year deal with the state's biggest radio station that gives them priority broadcast when UK and U of L games conflict. It is going to be ugly Saturday and I can't wait.
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted December 17, 2004 I've decided to appoint myself an expert predictor of all sports, and I decree that Louisville will beat Kentucky yet again. I'm sure I don't actually know anywhere near as much about the two teams as Alro would at this point, but Kentucky chokes in big games even when they have experience, and with this much youth, at this point in the season, there's no way the they beat the Cardinals. cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted December 17, 2004 What are you basing this "Kentucky chokes in big games" crap on? That said, I do think some UK fans predicting Final Four and greatness for THIS team are delusional. Let's face it: Chuck Hayes is a nice supporting player or spare part. He is not a guy who can carry a team. Azabuike might be at times but I've never seen him consistent for more than 2 games. Sparks is a nice mid major player, but even when WKU played a credible opponent (see Illinois, first round game) he tends to shoot his team out of it. From what I've seen of the freshmen only Rondo and Morris seem to be much, and Morris hasn't been thrilling exactly. Rondo is quick and exciting but I haven't seen him shoot worth a damn thus far. Maybe they will come in here and beat U of L, but it's hard to imagine that bunch beating a veteran U of L team with Garcia, Dean, O'Bannon, Miles, etc. I'm thinking U of L by 8 or so. As far as Pitt goes, the jury is still out. I just think that no matter what talent they may have their style of play is just death in a 1 and done environment. You can't win national titles playing 58-54 games. Eventually someone will have similar defense and actually be able to hit a few shots.

Those who were calling this year's team a Final Four team were most likely excited by the highly touted freshmen class. Will the be a Final Four team in one to two years? That is much more probable than this year. Hayes may be a leader, but he isn't a senior to build a team around like Erik Daniels and Gerald Fitch were. Azubuike needs to find consistency, as does Sparks. The highly touted freshman class needs to realize that just because they are highly touted doesn't mean opponents are just going to lay down for them. Otis George is slated to return tomorrow, which is definately a boost for the Cards. Plus they will have the best player on the court in Francisco Garcia. I think the big equalizer will be Shagari Alleyne. He is averaging three blocks per game. He is going to make the difference inside. Kentucky's key to success is not having their usual slow start. They also cannot allow Louisville dictate the pace. Those two reasons are why UNC beat UK. They also need to realize that this is Louisville's March Madness. The game means a more to Louisville because they are perceived, no matter what they do, as number two in the state. UK needs to be just as hungry to win. cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2004 I think we need to get out of that mindset honestly. To me, I'd much rather beat Cincy, Marquette, and Memphis than UK. Those games are conference games that actually count towards something other than bragging rights. Sure the past 2 years we have beaten UK...and then jobbed out to all those guys. In regards to Alleyne, I don't think he'll be a major factor. U of L doesn't have any inside game as it is...they won't really even go after the big fella to challenge him. iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2004 Well, I stand by prediction on Kentucky/Lousiville, but that's not the easy to bet game of the day, or even the most interesting. Both of those honors would belong to Georgia Tech vs. Gonzaga. GT's screwed around a little bit against some crappy teams, but once they hit a team they'll actually be pumped to play against, watch out. They'll be bombing threes all night long. Also, I've seen Gonzaga in person and they're really not all that impressive. When they face a team with a good defense, they just start giving it to Turiaf who wildly runs into people in the hope of drawing a foul. If Schenscher just stands still, Turiaf won't be able to shoot over him, and I'm sure he'll run up plenty of charges. Also, the Zags' perimeter defense is somewhat vulnerable, and I'm sure that BJ Elder, Jarrett Jack, and Will Bynum will be more than able to exploit that. Georgia Tech is a legitimate contender (if not the favorite) to win the national title this year, and Gonzaga is a "lucky if they get to the Sweet 16" kind of team that got absolutely dismantled by Illinois, and was one late shot away from losing to Washington State. I say no contest. Jackets by 20.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2004 Igg you were wrong. What an emotional game with a crazy finish. Kentucky steals one. I bet Alro was going nuts when he got fouled at the end. I almost went to school at Louisville so I was sort of rooting for them but it was still a good game and a great finish.
