Red Baron Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?id=106699 Goodenow calls for meeting with NHL TSN.ca Staff with files 12/2/2004 The National Hockey League Players' Association confirmed Thursday that NHLPA Executive Director Bob Goodenow sent a letter to Gary Bettman inviting the NHL's negotiating committee to attend a meeting in Toronto next week with the NHLPA Executive Committee and senior NHLPA officials. The letter also confirms that the NHLPA is working on a new proposal which it believes 'should provide the basis for a new collective bargaining agreement and thus end the owners' lockout.' "Almost three months have passed since the players made their last proposal and we have yet to receive a counter-offer from the league. We have been working hard at other creative solutions and believe our new proposal will provide a basis to end the owners' lockout and resume NHL hockey," Bob Goodenow, NHLPA executive director. More to follow. This is some great news I think, that they are talking. I don't care what the deal is, but at least they are talking.
the max Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 Exactly. At least they're talking. Do I think anything will get done? Probably not, but they need to be talking more.
MARTYEWR Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 Since the NHLPA are the ones proposing discussions and offers, and the NHL never even proposed a counter-offer from the last one, I'd say at least the NHLPA is trying to talk to the NHL.
Lightning Flik Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 The NHLPA did this because right now, the NHL has the momentum from the fans perspective. Honestly, I doubt will get anything done to save the season.
Prophet of Mike Zagurski Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 They should fight to the death and put it on PPV. I'd buy it.
