Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted December 3, 2004 Has anyone else just gotten sick of the holiday? I don't mind Christmas per say it's just the ads, the inhuman behavior of shoppers, shitty presents, people driving like morons and people expecting me to know exactly what they want that's just made me hate this time of year. Matt Young 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2004 Eh... Christmas kind of lost the magic around age 14. Once I hit high school, I stopped getting presents to open (money instead), my family cut way back on the decorating, and it became basically a carbon copy of Thanksgiving with the food and family. The only difference was the church visit. This year, after spending about 7 months on my own, I'm back with the family. My mom has decided to go all-out with the decor again but we're in California now rather than Illinois, so with palm trees and sun in place of snow it won't be the same. Christmas is now just a day to eat a lot of food, get a few hundred extra bucks in gifts, and to attend church for one day, get re-motivated to attend, and then never go again til next year. kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2004 There, now I win. The only think I like about Xmas is the presents. Getting together with "family" makes me gag. The traffic sucks a bit, but that's made up with the good sales that occur during this time of the year...
Guest Shutterspeed Report post Posted December 3, 2004 I get into the Christmas spirit and enjoy the time of the year, but I fucking hate going near a shopping complex in December. I hate kids, I hate old people and their transport aids, I hate people who can't park their fucking cars properly, I hate not being able to walk into a store without knocking something off the shelf due to crowds, I hate waiting for an hour to buy something, I hate being obligated to buy for family members that I hardly ever see and/or dislike, I hate the teenagers in these complexes at this time of the year because they have nothing fucking better to do, I hate the smell when you're stuck, crushed in with a group of people because the area's too fucking crowded to fucking walk in, I hate finally deciding what to buy for someone before discovering that it's not instore and if I'm going to get it, having to try everywhere else in town or else live with the knowledge that I gave a shitty consolation gift at the most materialistic time of the year, I hate going across town to get that gift from somewhere else before discovering that it's not there either despite being told over the phone that it would be, I hate having to pretend that I like a gift that I don't, I hate the shitty Christmas uniforms that employees of certain businesses are required to wear, I hate almost stepping on a small child waiting in line for someone dressed as Santa to buy his own kids' gifts and then having my head ripped off by the parent, I hate fucking attempting to get out of the shopping centre's carpark and contend with idiots that don't know how to use indicators or other simple automotive devices, I hate having my favourite television programs cancelled for the holiday season, I hate it even more when those programs are replaced with something that wouldn't even get a look-in at any other time of the year, I hate having to utter the words "Merry Christmas" to everyone that I see on the day, I hate the standard, unimportant, painfully annoying catch-up bullshit upon reunion with loved ones, I hate being obligated to offer accommodation to people that I don't want to offer accommodation to, I hate having a crowded pool on Christmas Day and discovering misty water and a pair of childrens' underwear in it that night, I hate presents that are wrapped too tightly, I hate people who say "don't throw the wrapping paper out, it can be used next year", I hate being left to clean up the mess and I HATE, HATE, FUCKING HATE people that go to the trouble to over-decorate their house without the knowledge that they're unemployed, their house looks shit, noone really cares and they keep me awake at night. Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted December 3, 2004 I'm pretty sure I blame the fat happy families that perpetuate this culture. I'm on holiday boycott this year. I dodged my family all morning and slept all through thanksgiving day and evening after working the night before, decided to crawl out of bed at about 2 in the morning, made some pancakes, laid about, raided kin for leftovers the next morning, and went to bed. It was like I didn't even have a family, it was beautiful.

kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2004 The holidays are the only time I relish being with my family. Fag. My favorite Christmas came when I was in college. I was getting ready to leave for my 6 a.m. - 2 p.m. shift at the gas station when my one grandma called, claiming she was "sick," thus making me wake my mom up, which she wasn't happy about. I left, goofed off for 6 hours, made fun of a stupid customer whose $1 lottery ticket we couldn't cash because the lottery machine was on the fritz. He got all pissy at my co-worker, who made a joke toward him after he was leaving, claiming never to come back to our story. Then I started laughing at him, as did the rest of the people in line. His self-esteem was ruined that day...
