Guest Rrrsh Report post Posted December 5, 2004 First in 2000 Washignton gets passed over after they defeated Miami. Then in 2001, Oregon gets passed over for a still-mind boggiling choice of Nebraska Last Year USC losses in Triple Ovetime to a really good Cal team, and they get passed over by Oklahoma. A team who got shit-kicked by Kay State. Now Cal get fucked over by the computer and left out of a BCS game. Un fucking believable.

Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2004 Multiple teams got fucked over in 2000 and 2001. Yes but the correct national champion was crowned in 2000 b/c OU was the only undefeated team. They got at least one team right in the National Title game and like it or not they were the only undefeated team and deserved the title.
lomasmoney 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2004 However they didnt play the second best one loss team that year and who is to say Miami or Washington would not have beaten them. OU won the title that year but the system did not pit them against the true #2 team

Guest Smues Report post Posted December 5, 2004 Bah don't bring up that 2000 Washington stuff, that still bugs me. I'm sure if FSU hadn't gotten the bid it would have been Miami, but it bugged me that Washington never even had a chance. Despite having their only loss against an Oregon team that was I think in the top 5 until they lost to an oregon state team whose only loss was to Washington. And Washington team was the team who beat Miami. ahhhh no wmy mind is running in circles again. But forgetting although, you can't really say the Pac-10 got screwed in 2000. We had two teams go to BCS games (Washington and Oregon St.) and 3 teams finished in the top 10 at the end of the season (Washington a 3, Oregon St at 4.5, and Oregon at 8 or something like that). West Coast power!

2GOLD 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2004 Florida State getting a shot against Oklahoma in 2000 was just a horrible decision and the Noles had no business being in that game. I'm a Seminoles fan and I know that. It's nice to see Mack Brown is still the master of dishing out bull.

2GOLD 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2004 Don't worry, when Texas gets whippied by Michigan, then Mack will never be near another BCS bowl again. Yes, he will. Mack Brown OWNS the coaches poll. Every season Texas makes some kind of absurd points pick up for doing nothing. Even when they would LOSE, Texas would still somehow hold strong in the coaches poll. Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2004 Mack may just be a good campaigner. Maybe he should run for office instead of coach. Course he'd make way less money.
nogoodnick 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2004 Everyone forgets to mention that Oregon State got screwed in 2000 as well. Their only loss was to Washington in Seattle by 3. They did go on to rape Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl though.

He literally does own the coaches poll. He and his brother both have votes. How was Cal supposed to counter that?

sfaJack 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2004 Only steers and queers come from Texas. And Mack don't look much like a steer to me so that kinda narrows it down. ... Anyway, everyone bitching about how Cal got screwed or Texas got some favoritsm is overlooking the fact that neither Utah or Pitt deserves to go to a BCS bowl over EITHER of them. I think Cal and Texas would both beat Utah if they played tomorrow, and I think we can all agree that Pitt is pretty undeserving of a BCS payday. The fact that either Cal or Texas got screwed any way you sliced it, to me, is the second biggest injustice in this year's BCS mess (the biggest being a 12-0 team having no shot at the national title, of course). They got screwed because they were a Pac-10 team and didn't end up in the title game. If it wasn't for the "East Coast bias" the title game this year would be USC vs. Cal since everyone knows Cal is better than Oklahoma and Auburn.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2004 I'm sorry dude but I SAW Cal last night against S. Miss and that is no national title caliber team. Auburn or OU would have stomped S. Miss (who is having an off year quite honestly...they were about 4th in C-USA). Hell it took a bizarre miracle play on an extra point for Cal to hold them off. But anyway they were totally fucked over in favor of Texas...a decision that makes NO sense whatsoever in that it gets rid of the traditional Pac 10/Big 10 Rose Bowl matchup in favor of a Texas/Michigan game with no sizzle at all. Nevermind Boise St., I think U of L should play Cal in a game of those fucked in the ass most by the BCS.

iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2004 Oh yeah. If Mack Brown had Cal ranked above seventh, I'd be shocked. I just want to know who else he put in there. Virginia Tech that lost to USC at home by even more? Georgia who lost twice in the conference whose undefeated champion "doesn't belong in the Orange Bowl." Louisville who played a weaker schedule and lost to Miami instead of USC? Hell, maybe it was just Texas A&M to "support the conference."

Some of those are arguable using the "conference champions bonus" approach. Hell, if he put Boise State 6th, he's got an instant defense: "you all said you wanted more respect for the undefeated mid-major teams".
