bob_barron 0 Report post Posted December 17, 2004 I COULD GIVE A FUCK HOW MUCH MONEY HIS MOVIES MAKE. FUCKING SPIDERMAN AND LORD OF THE RINGS RAKE IN MOVIES AND THOSE MOVIES ARE THE ZITS ON THE FACE OF CINEMA. I understand it's your opinion but to call him nothing is an idiotic statement to make. Jim Carrey means nothing to me. His comedic approach to steal the scene from everyone is tired. If he wants to do that, he should be funny. Well he's the star so he's supposed to be the main attraction. Liar Liar was built around him having fun and just showing off his versatile approach. Bruce Almighty, which I never saw, was not funny. He's not funny. Not funny. Not funny. You didn't see it so...yea. He was the best in Cable Guy, and that was because of a delightful script. Carrey took a chance on a dark comedy, and while many people who need their humor spoonfed to them hated it, it was a subtle and satirical comedy that touched on an actual serious matter. In fact BOB, I'd say some of the satire was directed at your kind. Don't get what the last comment was but he was great in Cable Guy because Carrey was awesome at playing a psycho and the little thing and ticks he gave his character made it great. Man on the Moon was Jim Carrey at his most pretentious. He portrayed an unlikable person, and somehow, made me despise him even more We weren't supposed to like Kaufman sicne he did do a lot of bad stuff- but Carrey made me appreciate his comedy and his style that much more. Man on the Moon is one of my favourite films since it has Jim Carrey and Norm Macdonald sharing a scene.

DerangedHermit 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2004 Robin Williams and Tom Hanks never talked with their asses. However, both DID dress in drag.
godthedog 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2004 he was fantastic in 'eternal sunshine of the spotless mind'. did EVERYTHING the performance needed to do, without ever drawing attention to himself, & kept up very nicely with winslet. that said, not winning and oscar does not equal "underrated." scorsese never won an oscar, and he sure as fuck isn't underrated. if anything, he gets too much attention because of his previous comedy work and every time he does a good dramatic performance people are all "holy SHIT! that's JIM CARREY and he's being DRAMATIC and he's GOOD at it!" had he not been known as the guy who once talked out of his ass, he wouldn't have had all the critics creaming over him in 'the truman show'.
