NWA Wildside/WWE relationship in the works?

Several weeks ago, I posted about an NWA Wildside/WWE relationship that was in the talks ( http://forums.thesmartmarks.com/index.php?...hl=nwa+wildside ). Here's a follow up, courtesy of Larry Goodman's recent NWA Wildside TV taping report:

 

"The latest on a possible WWE development deal with Wildside is this: Both Bill Behrens and Jody Hamilton were at Armegeddon. It appears that any WWE operation in Atlanta will involve both. Specifics of the arrangement have not been decided and discussions are ongoing. The logical scenario would have Hamilton running the training facility, as he did with Power Plant, and Behrens handling the lives shows/TV, ala the Danny Davis/Jim Cornette arrangement in OVW..."

 

Also, Wildside wrestler Biohazard is booked on WWE shows from 12/27-12/30, and Altar Boy Luke worked as an extra on SmackDown! in New Orleans a few weeks ago.

Maybe it was someone's fantasy booking, but I thought I read that some WWE on-air talent was going to have direct influence on training/booking down there.

heh if this was two years or so ago, then Abyss could have come in as Justice and play Big Show's little brother, I saw him at a Wildside show one night and he looks alot like Show

WCW used Wildside as its territory, not WWE.

 

Here's how I understood things would go down there, if Bill gets his way: the WWE guys will train down there, with shows being run every Saturday night, eliminating Wildside's own Friday Night Franchise shows that they use to showcase the training school's graduates. The WWE group and Wildside would swap off on Saturday shows, with the Wildside group taping TV on the first and third Saturdays, and the WWE group, consisting of about twenty or so WWE-contracted guys and whatever Wildside guys needed to fill the blanks, working on the second and fourth Saturdays.

WWE actually used Wildside briefly after the sale, IIRC. If I'm not mistaken, they sent Jamie Knoble there instead of OVW, along with a few others.

Loss - are you thinking of HWA? I don't recall hearing about Knoble going to Wildside.

Shannon Moore, Shane Helms, Matt Hardy, and several others worked for Wildside's precursor, NCW, back in '99, but none of them have worked for Wildside.

Will Wildside remain under the NWA umbrella? Seems kind of odd to me that they'd be associated with both the E and the NWA.

Don't quote me on this because I don't follow the indies all that closely, but I thought NWA Wildside was getting pissed at TNA for not having Jarrett defend the World Title in the other NWA territories, and also because of how TNA was treating Wildside's workers (low pay, etc)?

It was a storyline they ran for a couple of shows after Jeff Jarrett purposely no-showed a title defense that he was supposed to fulfill (even though it was booked when AJ Styles was champion).

 

As for the NWA affiliation: OVW was an NWA affiliate up until late-2001.
