In Meltzer's letter section he replied to a letter talking about Brock Lesnar's possibilities outside of WWE. The writer gave some opinions on matches Lesnar can have outside of WWE wit h big names like Steve Austin, Hogan, Goldberg and Sting. Meltzer replied to all those choices and here's what he mentioned about Sting.

 

 

"Lesnar vs. Sting isn't going to happen unless Vince promotes it."

 

Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but why couldn't this match happen unless Vince promotes it? Could Sting be WWE bound in the coming months, maybe for Mania or something?

It just means that neither man is going to do the match unless it's done in WWE.

I expected something better than what was delivered with the topic title.

 

Brock vs. Sting will only happen in WWE, because Vince knows he could probably make money from it and thus will fork over the money to get them in the promotion.

Why is Brock vs. Goldberg a dream match? It already happend at the biggest wrestling stage.

 

I guess its one of those "matches that likely won't happen, but might be interesting to see."

I guess they could say its Goldberg-Lesnar Part II. I dont know how many people want to see that match again, especially given the way the crowd crapped on it at Mania.

 

Obviously Austin vs Goldberg or Lesnar are the only true "dream matches" left.

I wouldn't mind seeing Chris Benoit vs. Hulk Hogan. I don't think that match has ever happend 1-on-1.

Yes it has. I remember Hogan/Benoit around early 1996.

 

Angle/HBK and Joe/Lesnar are my dream matches. One is almost a certain to happen, the other is a major unlikely event.

Personally I would love to see HBK v Angle (or Eddie for that matter), btu I dotn think either is big enough to do a huge buyrate, which I think it necessary for a true "dream match".

In fairness, the only reason for that crowd reaction was wholly due to the fact that the crowd knew both wrestlers were leaving by the next night anyway. In fact, can anyone think of any examples where that has that ever happened before? Two wrestlers both having their final match at a major pay per view, against eachother?

 

Sting won't be back in WWE, given that he doesn't need wrestling and WWE doesn't need him. I mean, no other WCW player they've tried inserting into WWE main events has clicked, so why would Sting be any different? They could just as easily 'make' a new star like they did with JBL.

I'm not sure if it counts but Guerrero and Melenko did their final match in ECW against each other and got a rousing ovation. Sure it wasn't on PPV but it was kinda the same.

If it happened it happend on Nitro. I'm pretty certain they worked each other but I'm betting it wasn't really much of a match.

Benoit and Hogan have never had a singles match. Their only interaction in matches were in a pair of six-man tags, on the 1/25/99 and 2/9/99 episodes of Nitro. The first match saw Benoit, Flair and Mongo beat Hogan, Nash and Scott Steiner by DQ. The second match saw Hogan, Hall and Nash beat Benoit, Flair and Mongo.

Sting run in during Rock/Austin reasons:

 

1)If he attacked Austin, it could be that he was upset that Austin let WCW get the final nail in the coffin under his leadership. After all, Sting was the only man that was pretty much WCW only when it was around.

 

2)If he attacked Rock...I dunno, maybe he's angry about Rock doing a crappy Sharpshooter/Scorpion Deathlock?

Sting was set to come into WWE for a match at WM XVIII against Vince. From what I understand, the deal was virtually signed and sealed, but it fell apart at the last minute, which was apparently down to WWE playing hardball in wanting Sting to wrestle a full-time schedule, which is something he has always stated that he has no interest in doing again. Luger had nothing to do with it.
