Guest Failed Mascot Report post Posted January 2, 2005 Fox has the biggest idiots around. Dick Stockton can't remember players names or even the teams he's watching while McCarver doesn't know the names of players or what teams they play on. Its why I hate Fox Sports. cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2005 Why isn't anyone joyous that Carolina isn't making the playoffs? That was a doomsday scenario in my opinion, because they might well have had a puncher's chance against anyone. God bless the Saints, I swear I was the ONLY person who said they were going to win that game today. The Vikings backing in after losing to the Redskins is a disgrace. My jaw dropped when I saw that score, I mean I just thought "How the fuck can they LOSE to the Redskins with the playoffs at stake???" I am also very impressed with the Steelers. They won at Buffalo today with basically their backups, right? It's weird that no one seems to think the Steelers will go to the Super Bowl at 15-1, most seem to pick either the Pats or Colts out of the AFC. Denver is awful. They are having trouble beating the Colts with Jim Sorgi, how sad. Question: if Denver loses to Sorgi, what happens then? Do the Ravens get in? Jags? If the Jags then the Colts outta just HAND the win to Denver, since the Jags is a much harder matchup for the Colts.
Just John 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2005 If Indy wins, the JAX/OAK game becomes very important. If the Jags win, they're in. If the Raiders win, the Ravens sneak in.

packwingfn 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2005 Trying to avoid injuries before the postseason, the Packers got a major scare late in the third quarter when Pro Bowl receiver Walker caught a 43-yard pass and then hit his head on the turf as he was being tackled by Bobby Gray and Charles Tillman at the 21. Walker stayed on the ground for a couple of minutes before walking off with a trainer at his arm. He did not return to the game but did not appear to be seriously injured. Scared me there for a minute.
Guest Smues Report post Posted January 2, 2005 17-14 Atlanta going into the half, but I can't see Atlanta winning this game with nothing to play for and resting their starters.
packwingfn 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2005 I cant wait any longer, i need to find out when the GB-Minnesota game will be on. PLEASE BE SUNDAY!!!
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted January 2, 2005 Resting the starters is stupid in some circumstances. Look at the Eagles. The starters will not have played for a month by the time their first playoff game comes around. That's just stupid and could cost you the game if your starters timing is off. USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2005 And at the same time, it's wise because you don't want the Vicks, Favres, Mannings and McNabbs of the league to fall to injuries in meaningless games.
packwingfn 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2005 I know, At least play the first half like the Packers, Patriots did or at least try to win the game against a lowlife team like the Bengals. The Steelers backups beat the Bills but it was more like the Bills beat the Bills.
Guest Smues Report post Posted January 2, 2005 Damnit Seattle, I want to see 3 8-8 teams make the NFC playoffs.
Slayer 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2005 I ain't proud, that's for sure, backing into the playoffs like a dumptruck. BUT, if the Vikings can pull an '98 Arizona and beat the Packers at Lambeau despite losing both regular season games (yeah yeah, I hear you Packers fans tuning up the "almost unbeaten at Lambeau in playoffs" band. Pipe down.) then I don't care what happens after that, it'll be worth it.
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2005 Man, that field goal by the Rams killed me. But WHAT a game (NYJ/Rams). Fucking Martz is going down, you'll see. Next week: #3 Green Bay Vs. #6 Minnesota #4 Sea/STL Vs. #5 Sea/STL Meaning there could likely be an 8-8 team against the 13-3 Eagles in the second round. I LOVE it. It can't have happened too often, I don't think.
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2005 Slayer, the "unbeaten at Lambeu" theory was killed once and for all by the Atlanta Falcons, and then this year it was pissed on by the likes of Jacksonville and some other not very good teams. I think the NFC East champion Giants defeated the Eagles 3 times in one year a few years back...

Richard 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2005 So if it continues the way it is Seattle AT St Louis. Its sad that one of those teams will make the 2nd round. Im mad that Ill probably miss the GB-Minn game because im going to florida for the week and not returning until Saturday Night. And the game will probably be on Saturday Night Min/GB will be the late Sunday game.

NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2005 My point wasn't that the Eagles are the super bowl champs for having the best record over 5 years. My point was that run defense means little if your overall defense plays huge in the red zone and your pass D is outstanding. Run defense means little? Actually run defense is more important then pass defense. Did you watch the NFC Championship games the past few years? The Eagles would take an above average defense into the playoffs and then get run all over three years in a row, so they go out and get Kearse which directly ignores the run defense problem. Lets say perhaps the Eagles make it to the superbowl(haha) what AFC team can they beat as the ball is shoved down their throat, and 14 points is probably enough to beat them as their offense barely is ever let on the field. Hey who I am to criticize, I have to deal with Dan Snyder and the gang every year.....
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2005 I've been at the NFC Title game the past 2 years. "Lets say perhaps the Eagles make it to the superbowl(haha)" There's three 8-8 teams in the playoffs, or close to 8-8. PERISH THE THOUGHT OF ANY OF US THINKING THE 13-3 EAGLES COULD POSSIBLY MAKE THE SUPER BOWL!!!!!!! The Eagles would DESTROY The Broncos. The Eagles would DESTROY The Jets. The Eagles match up HORRIBLY with the Colts. Unsure about San Diego, but their D isnt very good. The Eagles match up HORRIBLY with the Patriots. The Eagles actually match up VERY well with Pittsburgh. Remember, when Pittsburgh beat them, A) Westbrook was hurt, B)The Eagles had not switched to their new defense, which has been amazing and C)It was AT Pittsburgh. 3 factors that could be different

UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2005 And the reason the Eagles lost last year wasn't run defense. It was because they lost Brian Westbrook and had wide receivers that went out there and couldn't catch a fucking ball. They gave up 13 points to Carolina. How did they get "run all over and the ball down fucking throats". And the year before that the Eagles were beaten by Tampa's unstoppable defense. 3 years ago, Faulk killed them....but Faulk killed everyone.

UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2005 I feel bad for Jacksonville and Baltimore having to watch the 4th string Colts do nothing. Yea, Faulk only had 76 against them (Pats). They did a good job.
Guest Smues Report post Posted January 3, 2005 This is fucking ridiculous. The Falcons are driving trying to tie the game, and all the announce crew can talk about is that Shaun Alexander needs 2 yards to win the season rushing crown. OH FOR FUCKS SAKE the Falcons convert a 4th down with 14 seconds left, and what are they talking about? "Shaun Alexander might not get his opportunity. Why did hasslebeck sneak the touchdown when Shaun Alexander could have??" This is terrible.
Guest Smues Report post Posted January 3, 2005 Now apparently it's "An absolute injustice" if the game ends without Alexander getting the league lead. Fuck you FOX
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2005 Hahaha they still are. I guess cause it doesn't matter who wins. Seattle and St. Louis have no chance of doing anything in the playoffs.
Guest Smues Report post Posted January 3, 2005 Touch down Atlanta. 28-26. If they convert the 2 we go to overtime, they fail and Seattle wins......and damnit sure enough what do the announcers point out?
