Guest Jason Report post Posted January 2, 2005 Overall when Roddy Piper did or does his own special little shows The Pit in the Piper/Piper's Pit. Which overall do you think was/is better. I had to say Piper's Pit not in 2003 but back in the 80's and 90's I enjoyed the Piper's Pit.
Guest fanofcoils Report post Posted January 2, 2005 Meltzer has been no selling so I have to ask questions here. I'm wondering if Piper did his Piper's Pit ever in WCW?

If anyone picks anything other than the original stint from 1984-86 they obviously have never seen any of his Pit segments from then..
cawthon777 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2005 Aside from the forgettable return in 03, I'm trying to think of any he had AFTER 87. I know he did one with Shawn that aired as part of the Rumble 95 Encore. He did a few taped rant segments during his comeback in 94 but you can't really call them Piper's Pit without having a guest, and these did not. He never did one in WCW. Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted January 2, 2005 Most of those 94 segments were incoherrent rambling, and he said Bottom Line 490 times combined in each of them.

He was just trying to get the phrase over for future wretlers. Austin would've never been anything without him.
MDH257 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2005 The Segment was called Roddy Piper's Bottom Line. It was just there to hype his match with Lawler at King of the Ring.
cawthon777 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2005 But it stuck around until after Summer Slam, IIRC. I seem to remember him commenting on Tatanka's heel turn.
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted January 3, 2005 That was fine... except they kept airing new ones until around the end of September, 3 months after the King of the Ring PPV.
MDH257 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2005 Excuse Me. The segment started after Piper returned at Wretlemania X and it was used to lead up to and promote the Lawler match. I thought that it aired on Action Zone or All-American Wrestling(whichever was the Sunday Morning show at the time) and leading up to King of the Ring they would air it on all the shows except that they cut out about a third of his comments (when he would talk about other things) and only showed him talking about Lawler. I don't remember the segment being rerun on the other shows after KOTR. I don't recall Piper being involved in any other angles during that stint and I was saying that the segment didn't seem to serve any purpose than to promote the match and give Piper something to do. When LooneyTune mentioned that Piper said Bottom Line about 500 times a week I was just trying to point out that that was the segment's title. The segment may have stuck around KOTR (I didn't recall that), but Piper obviously didn't get involved in angles.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2005 The '03 ones can't hold a matchstick to cracking Jimmy Snuka with a coconut and the one at Wrestlemania IV (or V, I can't remember) with Brother Love's killer Piper impersonation and Piper spraying Morton Downey Jr. with a fire extinguisher. Sure, that one was filler, but it was entertaining filler.
landy1987 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2005 Piper was scheduled to start doing Piper's Pit on a regular basis again after Wrestlemania 8. I believe a few of these were taped as well, with Randy Savage & Elizabeth and also the Brooklyn Brawler. From what I know the Savage one was previewed to air one week but never did. I guess they didn't air maybe because Piper was fired as I'm sure I remember him being scheduled for the European Tour in April 92, but he never appeared.
