the pinjockey Posted January 7, 2005 Report Posted January 7, 2005 Offensive POY: Peyton Manning Defensive POY: Ed Reed Offensive ROY: BenRo Defensive ROY: Jonathan Vilma Comeback POY: Drew Brees All-Pro team (ties can result in multiple players in positions (ex. 3 CBs)) Offense QB Peyton Manning, Colts RB Curtis Martin, Jets RB LaDainian Tomlinson, Chargers RB William Henderson, Packers TE Antonio Gates, Chargers WR Terrell Owens, Eagles WR Mushin Muhammad, Panthers OT Walter Jones, Seahawks OT Willie Anderson, Seahawks OT William Roaf, Chiefs OG Alan Faneca, Steelers OG Brian Waters, Chiefs C Jeff Hartings, Steelers PK Adam Vinatieri, Patriots KR Eddie Drummond, Lions Defense DE Dwight Freeney, Colts DE Julius Peppers, Panthers DT Kevin Williams, Vikings DT Richard Seymour, Patriots OLB Takeo Spikes, Bills OLB Derrick Brooks, Bucs ILB James Farrior, Steelers ILB Ray Lewis, Ravens CB Ronde Barber, Bucs CB Champ Bailey, Broncos CB Lito Sheppard, Eagles S Ed Reed, Ravens S Brian Dawkins, Eagles P Shane Lechler, Raiders
the pinjockey Posted January 7, 2005 Author Report Posted January 7, 2005 I still do not get this Lito Sheppard love that the national media gives. He is a very good player who still has moments where his youth shows and he gets burnt. In time could he be an AllPro? Sure, why not. But not yet. Especially with Jim Johnson calling less blitzes, the safeties (arguably the best pair in the league) have been helping out more than ever, unlike in the past where Eagles corners were always on islands.
therealworldschampion Posted January 7, 2005 Report Posted January 7, 2005 I actually think Sheldon Brown is quite underrated, you pretty much never hear about recievers doing well against him.
LaParkaMarka Posted January 7, 2005 Report Posted January 7, 2005 Why did Champ get a CB spot? He was humiliated in that snow game against the Raiders.
C Dubya 04 Posted January 7, 2005 Report Posted January 7, 2005 I thought that Sheldon played as good as if not better than Lito as well, but he didn't have that signature play (ie Lito's Pick Six against Carolina) to get the recognition. Regardless, they both played a lot better than I expected.
sfaJack Posted January 7, 2005 Report Posted January 7, 2005 I think Dunta Robinson got robbed out of Defensive ROY. He was the most consistent rookie defender and, given that Aaron Glenn played opposite of him, a target all year long. He handled it wonderfully.
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe Posted January 7, 2005 Report Posted January 7, 2005 Why did Champ get a CB spot? He was humiliated in that snow game against the Raiders. Because he's 99 overall in Madden, duh.
Guest Rrrsh Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 Champ does not deserve his spot. He is Top 10 and will play very well aginast thr small WR's of Indy, but he was good enough in enough games this year. I think Lito deserves all the pub he gets. He had massive shoes to fill with both Vincent and Taylor leaving, and stepped up huge.
Gert T Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 Willie Anderson, 1st Bengal since '96 to earn All-Pro, hell yeah! The rookie defensive crop this year was pretty good. I thought Madieu Williams had a good shot at it, but that was probably me being homerish. Vilma and Robinson both had great seasons, I'd give the slight nod to Vilma though.
Guest Vitamin X Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 The 2004 Green Bay Packers: We may have fizzled when given a chance to prove ourselves, had a better road than home record which is saying quite a bit about Lambeau (not to mention dropping all 4 of their home losses to non-playoff teams), and have the most mediocre defense in football, but DAMN IT WE HAVE THE BEST ALL-PRO FULLBACK IN THE LEAGUE. William Henderson, Cheesehead nation <3's you.
Your Paragon of Virtue Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 When do the MVP awards come out? I'm guessing that those are different then the defensive/offensive POY?
Slayer Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 MVP is different. It's just one player, not separated for offense and defense.
Your Paragon of Virtue Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 Okay, that makes sense, but Peyton is probably a lock for that one. Might as well add that Schottenheimer is Coach of the Year.
Slayer Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 Schottenheimer is the regular season coach of the year
