Si82 Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 http://www.nme.com/news/111020.htm 'CALL' FOR NEW ORDER NEW ORDER have unveiled further details of their forthcoming studio album. The LP, ‘Waiting For The Sirens Call’, is set to be released on March 28 via Warner Music and will be preceded by a new single 'Krafty' two weeks before. Other song titles slated to feature on the album, which signals a return to the band’s dance period in the late 1980s, include ‘Jetstream’ and ‘Sugarcane’. The LP, which was recorded in Bath, has been co-produced by veterans Stephen Street and John Leckie. Guitarist Phil Cunningham has also joined the line-up, while keyboardist Gillian Gilbert is taking time out from the Manchester band. Cunningham, who previously performed with New Order singer Bernard Sumner in Electronic, filled in for Gilbert during the group’s last tour in 2001/2002. At the time the former keyboardist was forced to pull out so that she could care for her ill daughter. BUTT Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 Interesting. I'm listening to New Order right now. I can't wait for this new album.
Special K Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 Wow, I had no idea they were still around. Has their newer stuff been cool?
Gary Floyd Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 High hopes for this one (even though I thought that their last album, "Get Ready" was a disappointment.)
Edwin MacPhisto Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 Pretty much what lovecraft said, minus the "high hopes" part. I'll stick with Substance. Crunchier New Order doesn't do it for me like jangly New Order does. "Crystal" wasn't bad, though.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 They have two good songs. ("Temptation" and "True Faith," for those playing along at home.)
Edwin MacPhisto Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 Oh, don't test me, sonny-boy. Everything on the first disc of substance except "Everything's Gone Green," which is a "Blue Monday" demo, more or less, is great. "Bizarre Love Triangle" especially.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 "Ceremony" is okay, but mainly for it sounding more like Joy Division than New Order. No matter, though, as Galaxie 500's version of that song trumps them all.
